(2/17/2017) - Rock of Ages, running March 3 - April 2, 2017 in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre at Omaha Community Playhouse, is set in L.A.'s infamous Sunset Strip in 1987. It tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. This jukebox musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It uses the hits of the 1980s to tell its story, including "Sister Christian," "We're Not Gonna Take It," "Dead or Alive," "I Want to Know What Love Is," "Here I Go Again," "Don't Stop Believing" and many more. Rock of Ages takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! Contains mischievous behavior, suggestive and adult dialogue and comedic reference to drug usage.

(2/16/2017) - I love Valentine's Day. And this year, it was even more special. Amidst an already lively theater scene in the metropolitan area, a Valentine's Day Cabaret happened at the Club Vibe. This cabaret, the brain child of Nik Whitcomb and Sarah Gibson, featured local performers who have appeared in award-winning productions in a variety of Omaha theaters.

(1/19/2017) - Charlotte Maltby recently took over the leading role of Maria Von Trapp in the national tour of Rogers and Hammerstein's SOUND OF MUSIC. Under the direction of triple Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, the production opens Tuesday, January 24th, at Omaha's Orpheum Theater. I had the opportunity to speak with Charlotte by phone yesterday.

At the center of it all is Sara, a young mother and wife who seems to have it all but longs for her dangerous past and begins a love affair with her old boyfriend. As events unfold, the audience is along for the ride with every twist of the story. Murder Ballad is a steamy and fun thriller with a razor's edge. Contains situations of infidelity, adult language and mild violence.
