From debut playwright Em Crowe, SAME/SAME/DIFFERENT asks, “Is anything really worse than the devil you know?”
Following a personal tragedy, Elizabeth is granted a small moment of freedom from the confines of the fringe religious society in which she was raised. At the cusp of personal revelation, she finds herself suddenly ensnared by the gray morals and sinister realities of the 1990s New York music scene. Starring newcomers, Meredith England and Andrew Rogers, SAME/SAME/DIFFERENT is a physically charged and deeply intimate examination of what a young woman is willing to sacrifice for the implied safety of community.
Directed by Haley Fortune, and featuring original music by award-winning composer Adam LaPorte, the world premiere of SAME/SAME/DIFFERENT will play TheaterLab’s Atelier Space in New York City, with performances set from December 11 through December 14.
