This powerful, funny & unflinching solo drama is about two real-life Florida women whose lives are profoundly changed by their immersion in the world of the neurodiverse.Act I- Yellow: Michelle Feulner-Castro is a nationally recognized, emerging visual artist when the course of her life is radically transformed by the brith of her profoundly autistic son, Trevor. Her dramatic tale of reinvention & self-discovery propel the story of her struggle to be both a true artist & a good mother.Act II- Special: In Deltona, FL, Mary Tilford is scrambling to make a living & find direction when she pursues an opportunity to become a Special Ed teacher. Against all odds & the advice of her colleagues, Mary attempts to mount a production of THE WIZARD OF OZ with her neurodiverse students. Her difficult & amazing journey to Oz awakens both Mary & her students to a new understanding of their abilities & sense of purpose.Starring NYC actress Amanda Ladd. Written & directed by William Leavengood, nationally awarded, two-time Eugene ONeill playwright. The show was developed in part at New Circle Theatre Company in NYC. The Azure Sky in Oz just finished a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022.

Amanda Ladd is a NYC based actor. She is a member of New Circle Repertory Theatre (NCTC). Amanda is currently starring in the one-woman show THE AZURE SKY IN OZ by William Leavengood at the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row Oct 26th at 8:30pm. She had a successful run of 28 performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022 where the Scotsman called her "...genuinely inspirational." Other recent credits: NCTC's production of MRS HANK by Randy Noojin, THE SISTER-MOTHERS OF GULFPORT & THE AZURE SKY IN OZ by Bill Leavengood at Studio Grand Central in her hometown of St.Pete, FL. Favorite credits include No Exit at SoHo Rep, Greater Tuna at Okoboji Summer Theatre, & The Hans Project with NY Theatre Ensemble. Amanda is a graduate of Character 101 & Improv 101-301 at The Upright Citizens Brigade. In the past Amanda has worked for Disney Cruise Lines, Theatre Works USA, and NY Stage Originals. She is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association.

William Leavengood is a two-time O’Neill playwright and alumnus of Circle Repertory. His Off-Broadway credits include LITTLE MARY at the Sanford Meisner Theatre; THE HEAD at the Chelsea Playhouse; THE PRESERVATION SOCIETY, directed by Casey Childs, at Primary Stages; and FLORIDA CRACKERS, directed by John Bishop, which premiered as part of Circle Repertory’s 20th Anniversary Season.
Leavengood’s short play, STEVE, was presented at the Town Hall Theatre in New York as part of BRAVE NEW WORLD: The American Theater responds to 9/11, and subsequently made into a short film starring Fisher Stevens.
Published works include FLORIDA, BOUND, a collection of his plays, and HELLENBACK HIGH. Leavengood has received grants from Florida Division of Cultural Affairs; Florida Council for the Arts, Pinellas County Arts Council, and the Berrilla Kerr Foundation. Other awards and honors include the 2015 Innovative Instruction in Playwriting Award from the Southeastern Theatre Conference; Brodkin Scholarship, Edith Oliver Fellows Award and “Best of the Bay” Playwright in four different years.
He belongs to New Circle Theatre Company (NYC), the Dramatists’ Guild, and the Writers’ Guild.
