The Arabic Theater Company will present an Arabic-English Improv Comedy Night on Saturday, May 16 at 8:00 PM at the Balance Arts Center in Manhattan. The evening will feature bilingual improvisational comedy, audience participation, and live interactive games performed in both Arabic and English.
The cast includes Islam Balbaa (Egypt), Maria Bechara (Lebanon), Joe Mourad (Lebanon), Ali Nasser (Egypt), Liana S. Afuni (Palestine), Mahmoud Sabra (Egypt), Ahmed Elhosary (Egypt), Anissa Naji (Morocco), with Tarik Kdiry (Morocco) serving as host.
Founded by award-winning Egyptian actor, director, and producer Islam Balbaa, The Arabic Theater Company is currently the only U.S.-based theater company exclusively dedicated to amplifying Arab voices through performances in both Arabic and English. Through sold-out productions, talent showcases, fundraisers, and improv performances, the company has created a unique artistic space for Arab artists and audiences across the diaspora.
Balbaa, whose work has appeared in international film festivals and on major television networks including the Canadian medical drama Transplant, founded the company to challenge stereotypes and create authentic representation for Arab communities on stage and screen.
The upcoming improv night will combine fast-paced games, storytelling, and spontaneous audience interaction, creating a space where Arabic and English-speaking audiences can laugh together across cultures and languages.
Tickets are available online here and at the door on the 16th.
