TANGO BAR at KnJ Theater at Peridance Center

Nuevo Tango Arts launches the 2nd PIAZZOLLA100: The New York Tango Festival with "TANGO BAR," an opening night tango show featuring 9 dancers and musicians of the Cuartetango Music & Dance Co. and a special appearance by 8 members of the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company at the KnJ Theater in Union Square, NYC on June 18th, 2026.

“TANGO BAR” is where love, dreams, stories, politics, and conversations about how to fix the world converge, a coffee place but much more - the heart of the Porteño culture. Let the magical spirit of Buenos Aires, its tango music, dance, and song take you there…..

Performed by the PBS and Lincoln Center featured company - Cuartetango Music & Dance, under the direction of Leonardo Suarez-Paz, 4th generation tango artist and mentee of Astor Piazzolla, the 2xLatin Grammy nominated Cuartetango string quartet, and Grammy-winning bandoneonist Rodolfo Zanetti. Starring Tony-Award winning tango dancer and choreographer Guillermo Merlo with Jairelbhi Furlong, and multidisciplinary tango artists Leonardo & Olga Suarez-Paz. The evening will showcase excerpts from “The Rites of Love,” written for Cuartetango by Leonardo Suarez-Paz, whose compositions have been hailed as “superb” and “harmonically sophisticated” (Gramophone, UK) and choreographed for New York's Peridance Contemporary Dance Company (PCDC) by its Artistic Director, Igal Perry - the "blessedly inventive" (NY Times) choreographer and a powerhouse of expressive and innovative dance since 1983.
