Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history of posters, will host its monthly “First Friday” event November 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Poster House, 119 West 23rd Street in Manhattan. On the first Friday of every month, Poster House offers free admission and extended hours for guests. Explore the museum’s latest exhibitions and get in on the fun by attending a tour, workshop, performance, or activity throughout the day. The two main exhibitions currently on show are: The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of Fascist Italy and Blazing A Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters – open through February 22, 2026.

Every First Friday is different, offering unique opportunities such as tours, workshops, performances, and activities, to further engage visitors with the exhibitions. First Friday activities for November 7th  include:

Join Poster House for Federico Fellini’s Amarcord  (1973), screened in connection with the museum’s exhibition The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of Fascist Italy. A semi-autobiographical comedy-drama, Amarcord tells the story of a boy navigating life among the lively family and friends of his village in the Fascist Italy of the 1930s. While the film blends humor with surreal sequences, Fellini also highlights the social and political pressures of the time.

This program is presented by Poster House’s CMYK Council, the museum’s BIPOC advisory board that works to ensure the museum is accessible to communities of color.

Join Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop at Poster House for a hands-on screenprinting workshop inspired by Dorothy Waugh’s Lure of the National Parks poster, currently on view in the museum’s exhibition Blazing a Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters. Participants will learn the basics of screenprinting and take home their own two-color print celebrating the beauty of America’s natural landscapes.

Designer Zipeng Zhu will lead a vibrant tour through the museum’s current exhibition, Blazing A Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters. Explore how Waugh turned mountains into geometry, type into terrain, and color into emotion. From real to flat, from topography to typography, this tour celebrates the courageous design instincts that made Waugh a modernist pioneer.

It’s Happy Hour at Café des Affiches! Every First Friday between 3pm and 6pm, visitors are invited to enjoy $2 off all alcoholic beverages in the museum’s café.

Indulge in a delicious drink as you browse the galleries—and be sure to try the special cocktails inspired by the museum’s two newest exhibitions, The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of Fascist Italy and Blazing A Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters!

This one-hour workshop invites students to transform one of Italy’s most beloved cultural icons—pasta—into a source of visual inspiration. Each participant will choose a shape of pasta to work with and let its form, texture, and name spark ideas for a unique poster design.
