In honor of Veterans Day, the sold-out, award-winning solo drama by Jacqueline Goldfinger returns to United Solo with a tour de force solo performance by actor and military veteran L. James (Best Actor) and Best Director, Sue Wolf (HBO, Comedy Central). Haunted by what he’s done in the name of our country, a Vet returning home tries to repair his relationship with his sister and build bonds with his niece and nephew. As a result of an incident at a county fair where his PTSD returns in full scary force, he’s about to lose his family and any hope for a better future. When his doctor recommends Virtual Reality therapy he hesitates. How can he be a Soldier-Strong and need this kind of help? The desire to rebuild his family overpowers the naysayers in his head. Could the treatment move him towards healing? “I love playing this role because it is me, and it is the guy next to me, and it is everyone you see marching in a parade on the news. We’re warriors and we’re proud of that,” shared James. “Bravery is also coming back home, being open and vulnerable so we can mend the torn pieces of ourselves and move on to being the people we want to be.” “Audiences who experience Backwards, Forwards, Back feel they understand PTSD in a powerful, new way," reflects Wolf. "This tour-de-force shows the success of VR therapy, so people leave with a new depth of compassion towards the heartwarming journey of a returning veteran." The runtime is 55 minutes with no intermission.
Theatre Row is at 410 West 42nd Street, New York, NY.
