A Midsummer Night's Dream at St. John's in the Village

After the success of last summer's inaugural Shakespeare at St. John's production of Romeo and Juliet, Resident Dilettante returns to the historic gardens of St. John's in the Village with a production of William Shakespeare's greatest comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Directed by Montgomery Sutton, with Associate Director and Producer Sam Besca, the site-specific production transforms the church's lush 19th-century garden into an enchanted forest where tangled lovers, mischievous fairies, and wandering dreamers come to life. Rather than presenting Shakespeare on a conventional stage, the production embraces the landscape itself, inviting audiences to journey through ivy-covered pathways beneath candlelit trees as the story unfolds around them.

This production is led by Resident Dilletante and a series of their close collaborators, many of whom are recent graduates or faculty of the Atlantic Acting School. Resident Dilletante is a New York-based theater and film production company. Founded in 2023, Resident Dilettante has produced off-Broadway and international productions while cultivating a community of dedicated artists who combine ambition and compassion to create moving works.

The production is directed by Montgomery Sutton, with Sam Besca, Gissel Villanueva, and Kate Low serving as producers. The cast features Katie Honaker*, Charley Layton, Patrick Toon*, Megan Piggott*, Nhat Trinh, Maya Claridge, Zoe Walgren, Megan Malcom, Edelsa Perez, Gray Mortier*, Chelsea Inagawa, Charlotte Flatley, Michael Thomas and Montgomery Sutton*.
