Off-Broadway's PERFECT CRIME to Mark 12,000th Performance This Weekend
NYC's longest running funny romantic thriller, Perfect Crime playing in Times Square at The Theater Center, will perform a record breaking 12,000th performance on Saturday, July 16th at 8:00PM.
PERFECT CRIME is the Off-Broadway 'whodunit' that New York Magazine calls "a true New York murder mystery" and the New York Times calls "a crackling thriller" and is the only NYC play to reach a record breaking 12,000 performances - it's the longest running play in NYC history. The perfect show for Law & Order and CSI fans, Perfect Crime is a funny, romantic thriller about a psychiatrist who seems to have killed her rich husband (until he shows up very much alive); the detective who is trying to solve the supposed murder while falling in love with the primary suspect and psychiatrist's charming but crazy patient who seems to have killed a few people himself. There are Agatha Christie - like twists and turns in the plot and there's an "answer key" for Audience members to review after the show if they are still trying to figure out what happened and how. Since PERFECT CRIME opened in 1987, Catherine Russell has spent over 2.5 years of her life (nearly 18,000 hours) onstage. She has shot 90 different men and kissed 59 others. Nearly 108,000 bullets have been fired onstage and over 6,000 prop coffee cakes have been eaten. The show has employed 243 actors during its 29-year existence. The cast features Richard Shoberg (known best for his Emmy Nominated performance as Tom Cudahy on ABC's All My Children), David Butler, Hugh Hysell, Patrick Robustelli and Catherine Russell. PERFECT CRIME plays at The Anne L. Bernstein in The Theater Center at 210 West 50th Street on the corner of 50th Street and Broadway. THE FANTASTICKS plays at the Jerry Orbach Theater in the Theater Center at the same location. For more about the show, visit www.perfect-crime.com.
