Centaur Theatre Announces 15th Annual Fundraising Gala: Party In Paradise

Artistic and Executive Director Eda Holmes and Centaur Theatre's Board of Directors host Party in Paradise, the theatre's 2019 annual Gala, and a celebration like none other. Those in attendance can expect an enchanting night of celebrity-led live and silent auctions, an indulgent cocktail dînatoire and gifts. The entertainment will be immersive and ongoing, with live tango and accompanying music, and theatrical happenings in various locations throughout the theatre. Is temptation always a bad thinga??? Segal Centre Presents The North American Premiere Of MYTHIC

The Segal Centre is proud to continue its mission of developing and premiering new musical theatre works with top Canadian talent with a new pop/rock musical about the Greek goddess Persephone. Directed by Brian Hill and featuring a high-energy score filled with epic anthems by Marcus Stevens and Oran Eldor, the North American premiere of Mythic will be in the Sylvan Adams Theatre from October 27 to November 17, 2019. 
Yonder Window Theatre Company Presents THE DREAM PROJECT

KIN Experience Musical Adventure Series is pleased to present its inaugural concert, Music of Hungary. Under Artistic Director and lyric tenor Sebastian Haboczki, gifted musicians soprano Melissa McCann, István Lakatos (violin) and Paul Digout (piano) celebrate the brilliant folk songs from Zoltán Kodály (pronounced Ko-dye), along with the music of Ferenc (Franz) Liszt and others. This outstanding musical showcase brings a retrospective of Hungarian composers to a contemporary audience for an informative and engaging concert for both Hungarians and non-Hungarians alike. One night only, Saturday, October 5, at the acoustically stunning St. James United Church. Proceeds from the evening benefit numerous Montreal youth and non-profit communities.

Though Dipti Mehta's HONOUR: Confessions of a Mumbai Courtesan seems like a world away, today's domestic headlines are rife with disturbing reports about sex-trafficked girls as news unfolds about Jeffrey Epstein as well as Aboriginal girls and women. Mehta's story is a poignant, deeply-moving yet entertaining look at the exotic, dangerous life of Mumbai's real-life brothels and why they exist. Teesri Duniya Theatre is proud to present this important show playing at MAI from October 3-6 for five performances only. Continuing their mandate to encourage dialogue, the Theatre will hold a post-show talkback after Saturday's matinee. Mature content warninga?"ages 13+.

Centaur Theatre and TOHU explode onto the fall cultural scene with the limited-run return engagement of Un Poyo Rojo, the hilarious international sensation from Argentina. The show, which runs from September 24th to 29th, first visited Montreal as part of the Montreal Complètement Cirque festival in July of 2018. After recent triumphs at the Venice Biennale as well as performances in Spain, Portugal, and the UK, the theatrical acrobats and original creators of the show, Luciano Rosso and Nicolás Poggi, bring it back to Montreal as part of a North American tour.

London-based writer Rabiah Hussain's debut play about South Asian identity in Western society had its world premiere in the UK at London's Arcola Theatre in June of 2018. This production of SPUN, directed by multi-disciplinary artist, Mercedeh Baroque, makes its Canadian debut at the esteemed Centaur Theatre, from September 18 to 28, 2019.

Natasha Kanapé Fontaine adapts her poetry collection Bleuets et Abricots for the stage. Manifestation combining poetry, slam, singing, theater and performance, the artist brings together the main mediums by which she has been expressing herself for many years. She will stretch the thread of her inner song to call the female spirit of the Innu territory: a process of reconstruction, a migration in a reconquest of oneself and the ancestral Innu culture of the artist. A show becoming a unique ceremony, where the poem becomes the invocation drum on a stage inhabited by the performer and haunted by ancestors. In the wake of imposing global emancipations of the colonial power, the memory is reborn, the stories and the rites return. They give back to the Aboriginal women their identity as pillars of the clan and of the present.

ELAN's 15th anniversary AGM and party at the Rialto Theatre (5723 park Ave.) will be a celebration of Québec's flourishing English-language arts community, featuring a slideshow of memorable moments and people, performances by ELAN members, and a booklet of photos and stories commemorating ELAN's first 15 years. The AGM and Anniversary Party are open to both members and the general public.
