TRICK BOXING to Play Guthrie Theater in August

The Guthrie Theater today announced the presentation of Trick Boxing by Sossy Mechanics, a fast-paced physical comedy full of rapid-fire dialogue, "Fred-and-Ginger style dancing" and puppetry that The New York Times called "the best show I have seen" when it played at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2010. Trick Boxing premiered to great success at the 2002 Minnesota Fringe Festival, has since played to audiences around the U.S., Canada and the U.K., and will appear in the Guthrie's Dowling Studio from August 17-September 2, 2012.

Mixed Blood Theatre announced today that its 2012-13 season will open October 5 with the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical NEXT TO NORMAL, which will also be part of the second Center of the Margins festival. The triple-feature mini-fest will be followed in February 2013 with the culture clash comedy-of-bad-manners ELEMENO PEA and a bilingual world premiere based on Julia Alvarez' bestselling novel IN THE TIME OF THE BUTTERFLIES to be staged in April 2013.

Following an award winning run at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, Four Humors returns to the Twin Cities for a three week engagement at the Gremlin Theater with the original work Bombus and Berylline or the Bumblebee and the Hummingbird, tonight, June 21 through July 7. The show is based on character concepts by company members Rachel Petrie and Ryan Lear, paintings from local visual artist Amy Crickenberger Oeth, and stories from children of all ages.

The Mixed Blood Theatre Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda White Thietje as Managing Director to launch the company's 37th season. She steps into the position following the retirement of Pj Doyle, Managing Director since 2009. Concurrently, long-time Mixed Blood Director of Touring Charlie Moore will assume the newly-created position of General Manager.

On June 9th The Guthrie Theater premiered ROMAN HOLIDAY, a musical rendition of the classic Audrey Hepburn film. The plot features a frustrated and bored Princess Anne escaping her regimented advisors for some fun on the town during an international diplomatic tour. The princess meets a dashing silver fox of a newspaperman who takes her out in the city of love. However, the kindly Joe Bradley is also covertly planning to print a newspaper exclusive on their shenanigans. Of course, dastardly conflict arises the two realize that they've actually taken a liking to one another. If only real love were so dependable.

Stephanie Rothenberg leads the cast of Roman Holiday as Princess Anne-a radiant young woman in Rome on a widely publicized European tour who sneaks away from her royal duties to explore the city. Rothenberg recently made her Broadway debut stepping into the role of Rosemary in the Tony-nominated revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Edward Watts plays Joe Bradley-a handsome, crafty American newspaper reporter who charms the princess. Watts most recently appeared in the long-running production of The Fantasticks in New York City.
