The stunning new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita will make its Twin Cities premiere January 28-February 2, 2014 at the Orpheum Theatre (910 Hennepin Ave.) in Minneapolis. To open its 2014 Season, the Jungle Theater presents the regional premiere of SHAKESPEARE'S WILL, written by award-winning Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen. After the death of William Shakespeare, his widow, Anne Hathaway (played by Cathy Fuller in her Jungle debut), recalls her life with - and without - the enigmatic poet. Artistic Director Bain Boehlke designs and directs an imaginative story of a wife and mother who made tremendous sacrifices for love and life, opening February 7 and running through March 23 at the Jungle Theater, 2951 Lyndale Av. S. in Minneapolis.

The Brave New Workshop Theatre (BNW) has announced that they will be welcoming deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons to enjoy a performance of their hit holiday show 'I Saw Daddy Marry Santa Claus' with the help of professional ASL interpreters (Tarra Grammenos, plus a second interpreter TBA). This ASL-interpreted show will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 5pm and will take place at the Brave New Workshop Theatre main stage at 824 Hennepin Ave in downtown Minneapolis.

Children's Theatre Company Receives $75K NEA Grant to Support New Work

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that Children's Theatre Company (CTC) is one of 895 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. CTC is recommended for a $75,000 grant to support the commissioning and production of new work for young audiences.

He first appears on their doorstep wounded, saying he's just been mugged in Central Park, and introduces himself as a friend of their children at Harvard - and the son of movie star Sidney Poitier. Intelligent, funny, at times disturbing, this comedy-drama is a compelling evening of theatre and was named by the New York Drama Critics' Circle as Best New Play of the Year.

History Theatre will once again partner with the Minnesota History Center to present four staged readings of new scripts that are currently being developed by Minnesota artists. This year's RAW STAGES New Works Festival will include a revised script by Eric 'Pogi' Sumangil about Minnesota's Filipino community (Debutante Ball), along with three newly commissioned scripts from Carlyle Brown (Boundary Waters), Jeffrey Hatcher and Chan Poling (Glensheen), and Garrison Keillor (Radio Man).
