Caldwell Theatre Announces New 'Club Caldwell' With Avery Sommers Sept 25, 2010

'Last year Caldwell introduced the Broadway Concert Series with the highly acclaimed performances of Sunday in the Park with George and Into the Woods,' said Clive Cholerton Artistic Director. 'This year, we're expanding our programming further by incorporating our lobby as a performance space and transforming it into a combination jazz nightclub/black box performance space.'

Zoetic Stage and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County present the world premiere of SOUTH BEACH BABYLON, a wickedly funny, sexy new play by acclaimed Miami playwright Michael McKeever. This production launches Zoetic Stage's inaugural season and will be directed by the company's Artistic Director Stuart Meltzer, featuring an all-star cast of South Florida's best and brightest actors. SOUTH BEACH BABYLON will run December 2-12, 2010 in the Carnival Studio Theater in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House.

Rising Action Theatre opens its new Season at its new location at the Sunshine Cathedral campus with Fit To Be Tied by Nicky Silver, an off-beat comedy about a fabulously wealthy but desperately lonely man who lives a solitary life for many years. When he meets the great love of his life, Boyd, a young runaway with no family who is working as an angel at Radio City's Christmas Spectacular, Arloc invites him up for a drink. When Boyd readies to leave, Arloc is terrified that his last chance for happiness will slip away, so he ties him up. At that moment, Arloc's mother, Nessa, descends upon him with problems of her own.

Based on Damon Runyon's short story The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown, GUYS AND DOLLS tells the story of a group of small-time gamblers and the ladies in their lives. Nathan Detroit, the organizer of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York, bets fellow gambler Sky Masterson that he can't make the next 'doll' he sees fall in love with him. The next 'doll' to enter happens to be the prim and proper neighborhood missionary, Miss Sarah Brown, and the stage is set for a heavy dose of high spirited entertainment set to the toe-tapping beat of Frank Loesser's superlative score.

Bay Street Players will hold auditions for The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge on Tuesday, September 28th at 7:30PM at 109 N. Bay Street, Eustis. Director Joel Warren is looking for 6 males and 2 females ages 18-60 who have strong comedic timing. Those auditioning will read from the script. Newcomers are welcome. Anyone not interested in performing onstage is invited to join our team of volunteers and to learn of backstage opportunities needed for this production.

The Bay Street Players announce the opening production of The Bay Street Project 2010-2011 series. The first of the five show series opens Sept. 26 for three performances only. This Alternative production series starts off with the savory, savage backstage comedy 'Anton in Show Business' by Jane Martin. An all-female cast performs multiple roles (including men) in this uproarious comedy about an egotistic television actress, a jaded New Yorker and an eager ingénue brought together for an ill-fated production of Anton Chekhov's The Three Sisters in San Antonio, Texas. Anton takes aim at producers, directors, surgically beautified actors, crass sponsors, critics and even such sacred topics as multiculturalism, and satirizes, celebrates and challenges the importance of theatre as an art form today. There is a 7:30 curtain for the three consecutive Sunday shows on September 26, October 3 and October 10.

She is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and has testified in over 50 homicide trials. Her new book, Trail of Blood, tells the story of a madman, who murdered by night and left his handiwork to be discovered in the first glare of day during the days of the Depression in Cleveland. He was America's Jack the Ripper, but even more prolific.

Bay Street Players Holds Auditions for GI HOLIDAY JUKEBOX, 9/20

Bay Street Players will hold auditions for 'GI Holiday Jukebox,' a musical by Rick Lewis, on September 20 and 21 at 7:30pm. Auditions will be held at the historic State Theatre at 109 N. Bay Street in Eustis. Artistic Director, David Clevinger, and Musical Director, Don Hopkinson, are looking for two men and two women ages 20-40 capable of strong four-part harmony. Newcomers are welcome. Those auditioning are requested, but not required, to prepare a musical selection, preferably in the style of the production, and to bring sheet music in their key. In addition, some may be asked to read selections from the script. Anyone not interested in performing onstage is invited to join our team of volunteers and to learn of backstage opportunities needed for this production.
