WMFE and the Garden Theatre Present a Celebration of Reading Day 5/15

By: May. 03, 2010

WMFE and the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, Fla., have partnered to present a Celebration of Reading Day, a WMFE Kids at the Garden event. The free event, scheduled for Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Garden Theatre, features Miss Rosa, PBS Kids Host.

The event includes the airing of a SuperWhy episode, Miss Rosa reading two SuperWhy stories and an opportunity to take a photo with Miss Rosa. Families will also be able to enjoy fun activities and treats.

Miss Rosa, played by Jennifer Peña, hosts the PBS KIDS preschool destination. She encourages kids to explore new cultures and experiences and engages the audience with reading games and offers tips on how to make learning to read fun. Peña, whose family lives in the Orlando area, is a Florida certified teacher with classroom experience who decided to incorporate her love of teaching with her first love - acting.

SuperWhy focuses on the adventures of four fairytale friends who transform into reading-powered superheroes: Alpha Pig with Alphabet Power, Wonder Red with Word Power, Princess Presto with Spelling Power, Super Why with the Power to Read and Super YOU with the Power to Help. Together, they are the "Super Readers"! The Super Readers jump into books (literally) to find answers to everyday preschool challenges and embark on exciting adventures, where they play interactive reading games to overcome obstacles and save the day.
