Something’s afoul on the private golf course at Merlinville-Sur-Mer, namely the body of Hercule Poirot’s newest client! Acclaimed playwright Steven Dietz brings the famed Belgian detective to life to solve one of Agatha Christie’s most intricate whodunits with the host of usual and unusual suspects. A cast of six versatile actors embody myriad characters as they navigate the twists and turns of this lively and fun new adaptation.

February 21, 2025 International City Theatre (ICT) is opening its 40th Anniversary Season on February 21 with the Los Angeles premiere of the musical comedy Desperate Measures (inspired by Shakespeare's Measure for Measure). The rest of the season features all premieres, something ICT is not usually known to do. I decided to speak with the theater’s Artistic Director caryn desai (sic) (pictured) about that decision and the challenges faced over the years.

What is the history of International City Theatre ?

ICT is the resident professional theatre company of the City of Long Beach. Established on the campus of Long Beach City College in 1985, ICT moved to its current performing home, the Beverly O’Neill Theater at the downtown Long Beach Performing Arts complex in 1996. ICT’s mainstage season, combined with its carefully curated slate of education programs for children (PACT, Summer Youth Conservatory), young adults (free tickets to performances/talk backs, paid internships), families (Free Saturday Family Theatre), and seniors (transportation and free tickets), its programs have something to offer everyone from 4 to 104 and reach around 30,000 people annually.
