Students from 44 Kansas City area high schools, who performed in 48 musical productions during the 2008-09 school year, sang and danced their way into the spotlight at Starlight Theatre tonight. During Starlight's seventh annual Blue Star Awards ceremony, their theatrical talents and achievements were cheered by more than 2,000 parents, friends, teachers and theatre fans attending the free public event.

It is the final play of the Rep's 2008-09 season, Eric Rosen's first year as artistic director. Opening night for A Flea in Her Ear is Friday, May 22; the show runs through June 7. Tony-nominated director Gary Griffin directs a new adaptation by David Ives that brings a fresh edge to the classic comedy.
