Radio Kids Run Riot On Right Between the Ears At Liberty Hall 10/3

By:

A new generation of radio comedy stars will shine in the next live performance of Right Between the Ears at Liberty Hall in Lawrence - Saturday, October 3 at 8:00pm.

Maggie and HenryFor the 25th season opener, the nationally broadcast comedy show will feature a guest appearance by two students from the summer radio camps for kids, taught each year by RBTE cast and crew. Henry Cannon, 11, a sixth grader at Walnut Grove Elementary school, Olathe, and Maggie Hutchison, 12, a seventh grader at St. Peter's School, Brookside, attended the 2009 radio camps and will appear in sketches alongside the regular RBTE cast.

"We're thrilled to welcome Maggie and Henry to the microphones for this show," said Andi Meyer, RBTE cast member and education director. "Enrollment in our camps has been great, and we have returning students who have been with us since the beginning. We've talked about having our students appear on Right Between the Ears for some time now. It's another step toward our goal of establishing a youth radio company."

The week-long radio camps, presented in cooperation with Kansas City Young Audiences since 2004, introduce students to the history of radio theatre, acting for the microphone and sound effects, plus provide opportunities to perform in a radio-style comedy show for friends and family.

Besides the radio camp stars, the RBTE season opener will brew up the usual mix of topical take-offs and put-ons, including "Death Panel" a new action epic starring Sarah and Todd Palin; spoofs of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, TV host Larry King, and ubiquitous PBS documentarian Ken Burns. Also: episodes of "The Bitter Old Man Fix-It Show" and "Fishing with Dwayne".

Tickets range from $15.50 to $19.50 and are on sale now at the Liberty Hall box office and at the show's website, www.RightBetweentheEars.com.

Right Between the Ears is a four-time winner of the Gold Medal as Best Comedy Show at the New York Festivals, and is broadcast every Saturday at 7:00pm Central on Laugh USA (Sirius Satellite Radio 105 and XM Satellite Radio 151). The show also airs Sundays at 7:00pm on the stations of Kansas Public Radio (KANU, Lawrence; KANH, Emporia; KANV, Junction City). Darrell Brogdon is the show's creator and producer.
