- August 25, 2016 Titimangsa Foundation and Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation presents a colossal theater production called Bunga Penutup Abad, an adaptation of Nobel Laureate nominee Pramoedya Ananta Toer's literature works. 'This production marks the 10th anniversary of his death, to appreciate the works of a great Indonesian writer to the stage, and as one of the hopes to introduce and expose the young people in Indonesia to their home country's literature,' as quoted by Happy Salma, one of the main cast as well as the producer of the production.

- August 19, 2016 The international scholarly publisher Brill has adopted two libraries in Indonesia as part of its Adopt a Library Program. Last year Indonesia was Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, celebrating the theme 'Imagining 17.000 islands' which lead to choosing West Kalimantan and South Sulawesi in Indonesia as two islands to benefit from the adoption.

- January 26, 2016 Indonesian philanthropist and leading collector Haryanto Adikoesoemo announced today the construction of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN, pronounced Mah-Chahn), the country's first museum dedicated to international modern and contemporary art. The museum is currently being built in Jakarta, Indonesia - the largest city in Southeast Asia with a metropolitan population of over 25 million- and will provide the public with a valuable cultural and educational resource. Adikoesoemo has named Dr. Thomas J. Berghuis, formerly the curator of Chinese art at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, as the museum's director.
