BWW Feature: 243 Local Talents Audition for INDONESIA MENUJU BROADWAY Program by Rakaputra Paputungan
- February 06, 2019 INDONESIA MENUJU BROADWAY (Indonesia Goes to Broadway), an intensive training program for aspiring musical theatre actors, held its audition on February 3rd and 4th, 2019, at Balai Resital Kertanegara, Jakarta. Out of 672 applicants who registered online, 243 hopefuls were selected based on their resume and portfolio. A final group of 70 will be selected to attend the 5-day training by musical theatre professionals.

- November 24, 2018 Teater Musikal Nusantara (TEMAN), a musical theatre company based in Jakarta, will produce their first show, Stephen Sondheim's fairytale musical INTO THE WOODS. The production will run for three shows on two days from December 22nd to December 23rd 2018 and will take place at Teater Salihara, Jakarta. This production is licensed through Musical Theatre International and produced in association with Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and the Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy.

- October 30, 2018 TEATER PANDORA will bring RUMAH RAHASIA PEREMPUAN (The Women's Secret House), an adaptation of Tracy Letts' 2008 Pullitzer-winning play AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTRY, to the stage of Graha Bhakti Budaya, Jakarta, on November 1st-3rd. It will be the community theater's 8th production, following last July's JELAGA (Cinder), an adaptation of Arthur Miller's Tony-winning THE CRUCIBLE.

- October 18, 2018 Teater Niyaniya will perform their 9th show, TENTANG EMAS, on October 21st, 2018 at the Gedung Kesenian Miss Tjitjih, Jakarta, starting at 7 P.M. The production is an adaptation of local author Kathrinna Rakhmavika's MERA, PUTI, EMAS, a children's webcomic which itself takes several Indonesian folktales and their characters, reimagining them into new stories reminiscent of Sondheim's INTO THE WOODS.

All the casts were already on the stage, sitting on a chair with tables in front of them, acting as if we are not even there to saw them. Behind them there was a blackboard that says 'Perfectly Useless Movement'. The last Tick Tock was followed by a gong sound and JYPA's (Jakarta Youth for Performing Arts) Picnic at Hanging Rock opens with the thrilling announcement from all the girls on stage and the play begins.
