(07/12/2016) - The New York Philharmonic has completed its second annual Shanghai performance residency, July 2-8, part of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy and Residency Partnership, a cornerstone and founding component of the New York Philharmonic Global Academy. The week of concerts and coachings wrapped up with violinist Gil Shaham and Philharmonic cellists in the solo spotlight, Chaplin's City Lights screened with the score performed live, Very Young Composers, a side-by-side rehearsal with Shanghai Orchestra Academy students, and seminars, workshops, lessons, and coachings led by Philharmonic musicians and administration.

(06/29/2016) - The two performances of Shrek are over, I graduated from elementary school and now I'm off for the summer.   I have so many great memories of 5th grade but I think being a part of the play was the high point of my school year.  Some of the rehearsals seemed long but the school year really seemed to fly by once I was cast in Shrek.  It's weird to think that it's over, that I'll be in middle school in September.  I hope I get to do a play there as well.

(06/14/2016) -  Last evening, the Apollo Theater celebrated its 11th Annual Spring Gala raising $1.7M for its year-round artistic and community programming initiatives.  The concert portion of the evening was hosted by LL COOL J, and opened with the dynamic dancing duo Laurent & Larry Bourgeois of Les Twins.  The concert also featured performances by legendary R&B group, The O'Jays including rousing version of Love Train, The Backstabbers, For the Love of Money and more.  Rising star vocalist, Leon Bridges brought the crowd to its feet with a performance of Mustang Sally and vocalist Andra Day performed her hit song City Burns,followed by a touching performance of Unforgettable in tribute to legendary songstress Natalie Cole. Host LL COOL J also joined DJ D-Nice for a tribute to Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest - one of several iconic artists lost in 2016.

The evening featured a silent auction, tarot card readings by Meghan Boody, personalized haiku by The Haiku Guys & Gals, and bespoke balloon art by Brooklyn Balloon Company. Dishful Catering provided bountiful Mediterranean fare and Casa Dragones Tequila served up 'Unrestricted', the evening's signature cocktail. (06/07/2016) - Ragtag Theatre Company, is a Commedia dell' Arte troupe residing at The Soho Playhouse dedicated to creating fresh and unique live LGBTQ theatre designed specifically for the entire family. Think DRAG for kids. In short, they do fairytales. But not yo mama's fairytales -- they do fractured fairytales that spoof and riff off of pop culture... (much like Animaniacs or Shrek), and they do it all in the style of Commedia dell'Arte, which is an early style of Italian street theatre that incorporates big funny characters, improvisation, and direct audience involvement all in one. All of the company's shows are audience interactive and the kids integrated into every performance.
