SEEKING
Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Kean University, is seeking Equity actors for its production of Year One by Erik Gernand, directed by John J. Wooten. (See breakdown.)
The production will be held indoors at the Bauer Boucher Theatre Center, on the campus of Kean University, following all of Equity's guidelines for a fully vaccinated company as well as all University, local, state, and federal public health guidelines.
INSTRUCTIONS
Please prepare sides or a monologue from the play which will be provided after emailing premiere@kean.edu for audition materials. Actors who do not have the option to have someone read with them may use the monologue provided. Submit a self-taped audition via Actors Access or the google form at http://bit.ly/YearOneAudition by July 6, 2021. Early submissions are strongly encouraged. MP4 format preferred. Please state your name before presenting.

BREAKDOWN
1. ANNA (40s/50s, female) – A doctor. Someone with strong convictions and opinions who’s unafraid to share them. A force to be reckoned with.
2. ROSEMARY (60s/70s, female) – Anna’s mother-in-law. A widow who also lost a beloved son in the war. Sorrow lives within her. She longs for a day when the fighting ends. A peacekeeper.
3. MAX (30s/40s, male) – Anna’s younger brother. A war hero and a closeted gay man. Reserved. Believes more in action than words.
4. PETER (18, male) – Anna’s son. A young man torn between family and country, between his girlfriend and his mother. Timid. Uncertain. He’s still figuring out who he is. (Actors with strong singing ability are encouraged to apply for this role.)
5. CLAUDIA (18, female) – Peter’s girlfriend. A young patriot and fervent believer. Bold. She loves her country and also her boyfriend. An instigator.
