Oakland Ballet Company is a non-profit performing arts organization based in downtown Oakland whose stated mission is to provide accessible, relevant and exciting dance that inspires and educates all ages of the diverse East Bay community. Led by artistic director Graham Lustig, with Bat Abbit as assistant artistic director and Phil Chan as artist-in-residence, the company presents a season at the Paramount Theatre that includes Luna Mexicana and Graham Lustig's The Nutcracker, alongside the Dancing Moons Festival of work by Asian American choreographers. Its education arm, Discover Dance, delivers student matinees, in-school assemblies and the You Can Dance! program, and the company also runs a Summer Academy, student scholarships and annual Nutcracker student auditions.
