About this studio
Kids 'N Dance 'N Theater Arts began in Lafayette, California in 1996 as a dance center, added theatre arts four years later, and now trades under the broader On Stage name following the opening of a large Oakland facility serving the greater Bay Area. Founder Kris Mueller's stated aim is to inspire students, giving equal weight to building self-esteem and to self-expression through dance, musical theatre and circus arts. The dance program is deliberately non-competitive: the youngest children learn through weekly story adventures with music, costumes and props rather than barre drilling, with formal instruction introduced around age 6 as terms, steps and technique are gradually analyzed.
