American Ballet Theatre, founded in 1939 and designated America's National Ballet Company, is headquartered in New York City and tours the United States and abroad, performing seasons at the Metropolitan Opera House, the David H. Koch Theater and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Alongside the company it runs an extensive training arm: the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School's Children's Division and Pre-Professional Division, the ABT William J. Gillespie School and ABT Studio Company for emerging professionals. Summer programs include summer intensives, a Young Dancer Summer Workshop and a collegiate intensive, all entered by audition.
