Gluck's Orpheus and Eurydice, originally recorded live at the Winspear Opera House in February 2025, reimagines the classic Greek myth through the lens of dementia and devotion. Director Joachim Schamberger envisions Orpheus and Eurydice later in life, with Orpheus using love and music to rescue Eurydice from the darkness of her disease. Countertenor Hugh Cutting makes his U.S. debut as Orpheus and soprano Madison Leonard stars as Eurydice, with Emmanuel Villaume conducting Gluck's original 1762 score. The production streams free on The Dallas Opera's YouTube channel throughout the month of June 2026.
