Staples High School alumni and current members of Staples Players will be part of Westport Country Playhouse's one-night-only benefit concert, “An Evening with Justin Paul & Friends with Kelli O'Hara and James Naughton,” on Saturday, September 9, at 8 p.m.
Justin Paul, an Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Olivier Award-winning creator and Westport, Connecticut native, will headline a one-night-only fundraiser, “An Evening with Justin Paul & Friends with Kelli O'Hara and James Naughton,” at Westport Country Playhouse, on Saturday, September 9, at 8 p.m.
The (socially distanced) audience will be treated to five irreverent comedic plays by master of wit David Ives, plus two mini musicals-think theater meets Saturday Night Live, minus the celebrity guest host but with 21 of your favorite Players stars.
Blend the intrigue of a whodunit with the belly laughs of brilliant comedy, add a catchy score and rousing Old Hollywood-meets-Old-West dance numbers, and you've got a recipe for Staples Players next smash hit: Curtains. Will Lieutenant Cioffi solve the murder mystery, fall for a starlet, be stage struck . . . or maybe all three? Come see this enchanting show, which was the final project of Kander and Ebb-the songwriting team behind Cabaret and Chicago. David Roth (SHS '84) and Kerry Long (SHS '97) co-direct the cast of 46 in six performances from March 15 to 23.
