Columbus Symphony Presents Holiday Pops, 12/3-5

A great annual Columbus tradition continues as Ronald J. Jenkins leads the Columbus Symphony and Chorus in some of the season's most-loved holiday songs and carols. The event will also include performances by the Columbus Children's Choir, violinist Charles Wetherbee, dancers Justin Gibbs and Darien Crago, narrator Linda Dorff, baritone Daniel Maceyak, and several children from BalletMet with a special guest appearance by Santa.

Led by newly appointed music director Jean-Marie Zeitouni, the Columbus Symphony will feature renowned violinist Charles Wetherbee in the 'Wetherbee Plays Mendelssohn' program at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) on Saturday, November 6, at 8pm, and Sunday, November 7, at 3pm. The program will include Haydn's Overture to L'isola disabitata, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor, and Brahms' Symphony No. 1.

Based on the book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang, this contemporary take on a classic love story tells the tale of a forbidden love between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier forced to face death or part forever. Together, they set a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity.
