The Educational Theatre Foundation Announces Appointments to National Board

The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) has announced the appointment of Krista Carson Elhai, Peter Hagan, Elwood Hopkins and Allison Rawlings to a term on the National Board from 2020 to 2023. The ETF National Board of Trustees is composed of prominent leaders across a diverse range of industries, including entertainment, finance, hospitality, law, education, and nonprofit theatre, all with a common passion for theatre education.

Due to Mr. Mathis' specific travel and health advisements, this Saturday's concert with Johnny Mathis has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 8:00 PM at the Aronoff Center's Procter & Gamble Hall.  The concert was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020.

University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Dean Stanley E. Romanstein has announced the appointment of Eric Santagata to the position of Associate Professor and Patricia A. Corbett Distinguished Chair of Musical Theatre at CCM. A 2004 graduate of CCM's nationally recognized BFA Musical Theatre program, Santagata's appointment begins on Aug. 15, 2020.

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati is Hosting Collegiate Playwriting Competition

Calling all collegiate playwrights in the tri-state area! Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati hosts the second annual PLAY/write: The Jackie Demaline Regional Collegiate Playwriting Competition, held in memory of writer, critic, and arts advocate, Jackie Demaline. Students currently enrolled at a university in the Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky region are welcome to submit their plays to the competition. The winning play will be selected by PLAY/write's current judges, Cincinnati writers Joseph McDonough and David Lyman, with the assistance of a selection committee. The winner of this competition will receive $2,500 from the Jackie Demaline Fund and a professional staged reading of their script at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati.

Nominees can excel in such areas as playwriting, performance, audience development, curriculum development, funding, scholarship, community programs, research, television programming, creative drama or other enrichment programs at their community, state, regional or national level.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the continuation of its 91st Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Alabaster by Audrey Cefaly. Know Theatre of Cincinnati's production is the latest to open, running February 28 - March 21, 2020. As of the 28th, four productions of Alabaster will be running simultaneously: 16th Street Theater in Berwyn, IL closes its production March 1, while Austin, TX can see Shrewd Productions' run through March 7; Kitchen Dog Theater's Dallas production continues through March 8.

The Overture Awards provides $4,000 to six area high school students for education and training expenses, with eighteen finalists each winning $1,000. The sigh, however, does not come without reason. Shows like Les Misérables feel like a warm hug or coming home for a theatre patron, but this company is breathing new life into the old classic.
