Audio play production of James M. Barries THE NEW WORD. Barries 1915 play takes place on the night before a young man is leaving to join the army in WWI. Its the last chance for a family to come together with some kind of understanding before the son leaves, possibly never to return. It is one of Barries typically intimate and sympathetic studies of the tender commonplaces of daily domestic life, juxtaposed against the historic events of one of the deadliest conflicts in history.
