On Sunday, March 15th at 6:30pm at Opera America's Domingo Hall, Composers Concordance presents Tin Pan Allegiances, commemorating and paying tribute to NYC's Tin Pan Alley, where publishers of zillions of popular songs had their offices. Songwriters associated with Tin Pan Alley included George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Jerome Kern, among many others. Alongside new chamber music compositions that pay tribute to this essential chapter in NYC's music history, several standard songs from yesteryear will be sung. Composer George Boziwick, retired Chief of the Music Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will lead a sing-along performance of Take Me Out to the Ball Game, composed in 1908 by Jack Norworth and Albert Von TilzeComposers featured on the concert include Tyrone Birkett, Charles Coleman, Dan Cooper, Loire Cotler, Chris Opperman, Gene Pritsker, Richard Sussman, David Taylor, and Ann Warren.Performers featured include vocalist Scot Albertson, saxophonist Tyrone Birkett, vocalist Charles Coleman, rhythm vocalist Loire Cotler, violist Beth Holub, pianist Chris Opperman, guitarist Gene Pritsker, pianist Richard Sussman, bass trombonist David Taylor, and others.
