CM Performing Arts Center Presents LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, 6/30-7/22

Georges is the suave owner of a glitzy drag club on the French Riviera. Partnered romantically with his high-strung star performer, Albin (who goes by the stage name Zaza), the pair live a charmed life-for better or worse. They get a bit of both when Georges' son, Jean-Michel, turns up engaged to the daughter of a conservative right-wing politician who's coming to dinner. Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as 'normal' when he meets the family of the bride-to-be. But Albin has other plans, with hilarious results.
Cortland Repertory Theatre Holds Cabaret Night Fundraiser, 7/21

Cortland Repertory Theatre will present its very first "Cabaret Night" fundraiser, hosted by the CRT Board of Directors on Saturday, July 21 at the Little York Pavilion in Dwyer Memorial Park. Early Bird tickets are currently on sale for $35.00 until July 1, after which they will be raised to $40.00.

Two Mamaroneck based theatres - one the oldest continuously operated theatre in Westchester, the Emelin Theatre, and the other the 4 year old Westchester Sandbox Theatre team up this summer. The Emelin Theatre will host the Sandbox Theatre's upcoming production of Smokey Joe's Cafe which will run June 29, 30 & July 1,6,7,8. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm and Sunday afternoons at 3pm. All tickets are $28.
Cooperstown Summer Music Festival Opens with Classical Guitarist Jason Vieaux and Flutist Linda Chesis, 7/8

The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival opens its 14th season on July 8 with classical guitarist Jason Vieaux, flutist Linda Chesis, and a string trio with Nadir Khashimov, Daniel Lee, and Eric Han. The 7:30 pm concert will be held in the Louis C. Jones Center at The Farmers' Museum.

The New York Philharmonic's 170th subscription season will conclude with Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, leading the Orchestra in an all- Mozart program: the Mass in C minor, Great, and Piano Concerto No. 22, featuring Emanuel Ax - Honorary Member of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York - as soloist, tonight, June 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 22 at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. The C-minor Mass will feature performances by soprano Jennifer Zetlan (making her New York Philharmonic debut), mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, tenor Paul Appleby (also making his Philharmonic debut), baritone Joshua Hopkins, and the New York Choral Artists, directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. Ms. Zetlan, Ms. Johnson Cano, Mr. Appleby, and Mr. Hopkins will join Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic to perform the C-minor Mass at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival July 27.

Two-time Tony Award nominee André De Shields, who created the title role in the hit Broadway musical THE WIZ, has just returned from Chittenango, New York where he was a Special Guest of Honor at the 34th Annual OZ-Stravaganza weekend. This village, just outside Syracuse, New York, is the birthplace of L. Frank Baum who is best known for writing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which became the classic 1939 MGM film starring Judy Garland. Check out photos from the event below!

Breakdown Services has been working with casting directors since it opened its doors 40 years ago. When founder Gary Marsh attended the most recent CSA Artios awards and heard an announcement about a new collaborative program at Syracuse University's Tepper Semester in the Department of Drama at the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) that would help train people to become casting directors, it appeared to be the perfect partnership.
