Ghosts of Weimar Past is a program of musical time travel, in which we honor the spirit of cabaret and vaudeville from the birth to the death of Weimar Berlin. From the gritty 20s, tumultuous 30s, and uncertain 40s, cabaret existed— most importantly, as a way to criticize and defy the faults of society. Ghosts of Weimar Past is full of Marlene Dietrich standards, snippets from Anita Berber’s Dances of Depravity, and the LGBTQ+ anthems and anti-Nazi songs that were sung under the very nose of fascism. Chanteuse Artemisia LeFay and the Orchestra of the Depraved (pianist/singer Hannah Mount; accordionist/singer Mary Spencer Knapp; accordionist/singer Natasha Thweatt) resurrect the songs of Michael Jary, Mischa Spoliansky, Kurt Weill, Friederich Hollaender and more.
Chanteuse/songwriter Artemisia LeFay will debut a new show Wasted Girl at The Triad on Sunday, May 5th at 7pm.
Chanteuse Artemisia LeFay and The Orchestra of the Depraved (Hannah Mount, Mary Spencer Knapp and Natasha Thweatt) returned to The Triad with GHOSTS OF WEIMAR PAST on April 1. Check out photos from the show here!
Natasha Thweatt, actress, singer and multi-instrumentalist, will debut in the upcoming cabaret-sical GHOSTS OF WEIMAR PAST returning The Triad Theatre this Saturday, April 1st at 7pm.
Artemisia isn't afraid of death or the ghosts that linger; she embraces them.
'Ghosts of Weimar Past' is an au courant invocation of the cabarets and nightclubs of 20th-century Europe's Sodom & Gomorrah-- namely, Weimar Republic Berlin.
Join chanteuse Artemisia LeFay & the Orchestra of the Depraved (Mary Spencer Knapp on accordion and Hannah Mount on piano) as they resurrect the songs of Michael Jary, Mischa Spoliansky, Kurt Weill, Friederich Hollaender, and more.
Chanteuse Artemisia LeFay's original show GHOSTS OF WEIMAR PAST made its highly anticipated Birdland Theater debut to an enthusiastic and packed house last week.
