Based on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, NY Honey Apple beat out two other flavors created expressly for the recent Art of Cooking Gala benefitting the leading nonprofit healthy cooking and eating educator, The Sylvia Center. It is now the newest flavor at Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream on Rivington Street.

NY Honey Apple and the other two flavors, Sweet Potato Gingersnap Cookie Dough and Pineapple Beet Tamarind represent the collaboration between the emporium's owner, Nicholas Morgenstern and a group of New York teens from the Bronx and Brooklyn, who have completed 60 hours of The Sylvia Center's culinary training.

The teens were charged by Morgenstern to come up with ideas for the three flavors inspired by fall, their favorite foods and/or their neighborhoods. The youth had to consider texture, color and smell in addition to taste. The flavors were sampled by guests of the Art of Cooking Gala that included rock musician, Jon Bon Jovi. The top favorite has become the newest Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream offering. Visit Morgenstern's now through November 30th where you can order NY Apple Honey with $1 of every sale going to support Sylvia Center programs.
