The Mozart@260 Festival -- curated by Quebec-based conductor Bernard Labadie -- includes the famous Symphony No. 40 as part of the popular What Makes It Great? series, a splendid program featuring the Jupiter Symphony and more, and a gripping semi-staged production of the Requiem. League of American Orchestras Announces Commissions for Female Composers by BWW News Desk
- December 01, 2015 Andreia Pinto-Correia and Xi Wang have been selected to receive orchestral commissions of $15,000 each as part of the League of American Orchestras' Women Composers Readings and Commissions program, administered with the American Composers Orchestra and EarShot and supported by the Virginia B. - November 28, 2015 Richmond, Virginia Kick off the holiday season with the Academy Award-winning movie The Snowman today, November 28 at 11am. The charming, animated film follows the story of a young boy and his magical friendship with a snowman, while the Richmond Symphony performs Howard Blake's score, including the popular song “Walking in the Air.” Additional holiday favorites such as “The Polar Express” and “Winter Wonderland” will also be performed during the program.
