Dallas Chamber Symphony to Present THE GOAT, 2/16
by BWW News Desk - January 22, 2016
Silent film star Buster Keaton was a master of turning wrong-place-wrong-time situations into absolute hilarity, and perhaps nowhere is that more on display than in “The Goat”. Keaton's character finds himself on a “wanted” poster just because he was standing near a photographer, and that's just the beginning of his troubles in this 1921 classic. Now you can see the movie in all its glory at Dallas City Performance Hall with a new score by Jon Kull, whose film credits include “Avatar” and “The Hunger Games”. Before the movie starts, the Dallas Chamber Symphony will play works by Hindemith and Moravec to warm you up.

These are some of the important questions that music raises, and each year, Pacific Symphony, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, attempts to shed light on the answers by exploring a different facet of American music through the American Composers Festival (ACF). This year's ACF spotlights organ music through four highly acclaimed organists and the splendor of the king of instruments—in this case, the one-of-a-kind William J. Gillespie Concert Organ, located in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Built from steel, tin, oak, poplar, maple, lead and carbon fiber, the astounding instrument found in the Symphony's concert hall required three years and 42,000 hours of labor by a team of organ builders at C.B Fisk in Gloucester, Mass., before making its debut with Pacific Symphony in 2008.
