Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School to Present Two Youth Concerts This Winter

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles (RIPYWE) presents their first full concert of the season Tuesday, January 26 at 7:15 pm at Sapinsley Hall, Rhode Island College. The concert will include RIPYWE Senior Division, under the direction of Eric Hewitt, and RIPYWE Junior Division, under the direction of Dr. David Neves. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available through the Rhode Island College box officewww.ric.edu/pfa/orderinfo.php or 401-456-8144.

RIPYWE Senior features Vaughn-Williams' Flourish for Wind Band, Barber's Commando March, Copland's Down a Country Lane, Camphouse's A Movement for Rosa and Mennin'sCanzona. RIPYWE Junior features works by Richard Saucedo, Elliot Del Borgo, Johann Brahms, Frank Ticheli, Steven Reineke and Henry Fillmore.

RIPYWE provides quality wind ensemble rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. RIPYWE Senior is designed for advanced students and RIPYWE Junior for beginning and intermediate students. SUNDAY, February 7, 3pm

YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestras (RIPYO) presents their second concert of the season on Sunday, February 7 at 3pm. The concert features the top-level Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Alexey Shabalin, Repertory Orchestra under the direction of Vincent Mattera, String Orchestra under the direction of Irina Naryshkova and the Intermediate String Ensemble and String Ensemble under the direction of Erin Quinton Erban. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available through the Rhode Island College box office http://www.ric.edu/pfa/orderinfo.php or 401-456-8144.

The Symphony Orchestra features RI Philharmonic Concerto & Aria Competition Co-Winners: John Duffy (piano) and Abigail Siegel (piano) of East Greenwich. The Symphony's program includes the first movement of Poulenc's "Concerto for Two Pianos in D minor" and movements from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet" Suites.

RIPYO provides quality orchestral rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians in from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. Students range in age from elementary school through high school.
