by BWW News Desk - September 09, 2015
AkAsha International, founded in 2012 to promote international development and social change, announces its third book in the Malik and FriendsTM book series, 'Malik and Friends: Long Legs and Small Arms.' The first graphic novel in the Malik and FriendsTM book series, it is targeted to youth ages 9 to 13. It is authored and illustrated by Akili Raphael, age 11, who is the author and illustrator of the two other books in the series targeted to children ages 3 to 8, 'Malik and the Malaria-Carrying Mosquito' and 'Malik says, 'Turn off the water!' 'Malik and Friends: Long Legs and Small Arms' is prefaced by Lígia Fonseca, First Lady of Cape Verde, and traces the third global adventure by the young American protagonist Malik, who travels to Cape Verde for soccer camp where he and other youth discuss ways to address gun access and violence. Children's rights and the perilous life of a child soldier are depicted, along with young victims of gun violence in the United States. According to a book reviewer, 'This book provides a very good and rare insight into the harmful use of guns and child soldiers in the world through the eyes of children themselves. Akili and his mom have succeeded in addressing a very serious problem with simple words and a child-friendly context. This book is a good starting point for a much needed conversation on guns and child soldiers-to be put in all hands.' In the book, 'Malik and the Malaria-Carrying Mosquito,' the main character Malik, travels to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in his little yellow airplane to deliver bed nets to his friend François to help prevent the spread of malaria. In 'Malik says, 'Turn off the water!',' he travels to Hobart, Australia to help his friend Catryna promote water conservation and sanitation in a school competition. The Malik and FriendsTM book series teaches children about different parts of the world, global issues, friendship, and problem-solving. International issues tackled in the series include malaria, water conservation and sanitation, natural disasters, and gun violence. Young readers are encouraged to volunteer in their local communities to address global concerns. Malik and FriendsTM teaches children to be citizens of the world. AkAsha International envisions a world in which everyone has enough food to eat. A world where girls attend school and babies do not die from preventable diseases. A world that acknowledges and advances our common humanity. The company hopes that by engaging and educating young children through Malik and FriendsTM there will be an increased awareness of ways children and families can partner to solve many of the challenges in the world-creating future global leaders, one story at a time. Profits from the sale of the books will be reinvested to develop additional social products, and to make donations through the AkAsha Foundation to organizations that address issues highlighted in the books. For more information about Malik and FriendsTM send an email to info@malikandfriends.com or go to http://www.malikandfriends.com.

New Book Promises 28 Days to Health and Happiness
by BWW News Desk - September 09, 2015
RobFast.com has announced its long-awaited e-book, 'The Fast Way to Health and Happiness - 28 Days to a Better You and a Better Life'. After 20 years of researching the physiology and psychology of what it takes for people to be healthy and happy, Rob Fast has created a strategy to help change negative habits and embrace positive habits that lead to success in all that we do. 'The main reason diets and fitness programs fail... the primary reason we feel unfulfilled and unhappy, is that we must first adopt a new way of thinking before we attempt to adopt a new way of living,' according to Fast. Numerous studies have shown that it takes 28 days to alter bad habits or to generate positive new habits. 'The Fast Way' is a cumulative process that encourages readers to read just one short, simple chapter per day. Each chapter consists of a single task. The following day, that task is coupled with a new task. Then the next day, we continue with previous tasks as we take on one additional task, and so on. 'It is as much about the process as it is about the content,' adds Fast. 'It's not just an easy read... it's a must read!' says CBS Radio. And FitDay.com recently said, 'The simplest, smartest way to begin or enhance a fit lifestyle.' You can learn more about Rob Fast and 'The Fast Way' by visiting www.robfast.com About Rob Fast Rob Fast is a fitness trainer, restaurateur, juicing enthusiast, author, speaker and personal coach. He discovered that fitness is a lifestyle... a mindset, not simply a membership to a gym. Good health is about learning to make different choices, not about denying ourselves the things we enjoy. And happiness is about integrating these into our daily lives, our families and our social circles. Visit www.robfast.com for more information.
