Rick Riordan

NEW YORK (October 17, 2017) --

Today Disney-Hyperion, a Disney Book Group imprint, launched "Read Riordan," the always-on digital home for the Rick Riordan universe where fans can connect with Riordan's content and share their fandom every day.

Read Riordan will be available across owned-and-operated and third-party digital platforms including ReadRiordan.com, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and will replace the existing social media channels associated with Rick Riordan's content and that are run by Disney-Hyperion. The content will go deeper into the worlds that best-selling author Rick Riordan has created and will be delivered to fans and followers in their social feeds. Posts will include articles, images, excerpts, video, and content specific for each platform. ReadRiordan.com will feature news, articles, quizzes and exclusive content.

Read Riordan aims to create an always-on connection between fans and Riordan's literary universe, and will provide a platform for fans to be introduced to and engage with all of Riordan's stories, including the recently released "Ship of the Dead" title, which became an instant New York Times Best Seller. Read Riordan will also feature content from the books that will be released through the Rick Riordan Presents imprint.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to connect with fans through the Read Riordan sites and channels, and even more thrilled to see fans embrace the stories of Percy Jackson, Apollo, Magnus Chase and more off the page and into their social feeds," said Rick Riordan. "With so many rich stories and characters coming out of the new imprint, this will be the place where fans can discover and engage with the content."

Read Riordan is the latest effort from Disney's Publishing and Digital Media group to extend book publishing to social platforms. Disney recently brought together its book publishing business with its digital publishing business in order to blend expertise in storytelling with expertise in digital and social publishing to bring its stories to all platforms.

"The stories and characters that Rick Riordan has created through his books have incredible depth and can be represented in endless ways," said Andrew Sugerman, EVP Publishing and Digital Media at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. "By bringing the worlds to social platforms, we're able to extend his books in new ways and to new fans, and give those fans a daily Rick Riordan experience."

Sugerman adds: "Our new business structure creates a unique opportunity for the authors working with Disney Book Group to expand their audiences and to connect with fans everyday through editorial and social content."
