Brooklyn performance and civic space JACK announces a live-streamed forum on Facebook featuring three candidates for the open New York State Senate seat (currently held by Velmanette Montgomery) in District 25, which comprises Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, Red Hook, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Sunset Park, Gowanus, and Park Slope, among other neighborhoods. The forum will be moderated by JACK founder/Co-Director Alec Duffy and is so far the only planned candidate forum for this race.

Written and directed by NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing students James Salem and Jessie Field, 'IS THIS ART NOW' documents life in quarantine for friends trying to connect over zoom and write a musical webseries about friends trying to connect over zoom and write a musical webseries about... well, you get it! Funny, charming, heart-warming, and at times surprisingly deep - this new musical theatre-esque virtual romp features original songs, stellar vocal performances, and a candid look at quarantined life for young artists. New episodes will drop every evening at 7pm, for the week of May 3rd.

Metropolis Ensemble Launches 'House Music' Virtual Concert Series

Metropolis Ensemble is commissioning performers to present bite-sized works from contemporary composers, as well as composers to create new works specifically for this series, which are then recorded from wherever the artists are sheltering. 'House Music' launched in late March and streams live every Tuesday and Thursday at 10AM ET. The events are accessible for free on Metropolis Ensemble's website, and its Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Brooklyn performance space JACK announced a partnership with the mutual aid group We Keep Us Safe Abolitionist Network to transform its theater into a hub for the distribution of food to neighbors in need. Dozens of volunteers are involved, and already, more than 100 families have received food as part of the effort.
