RUDE at South 4th Bar Announces June Line-Up

RUDE, the weekly night of comedy held every Tuesday at Williamsburg's South 4th Bar, has announced their line-up of shows and performances for June 2017, kicking off on June 6th. The June roster includes Rude's new monthly queer showcase, a comedy showcase hosted by Crissy Milazzo and Brandon Wardell, and a 'video party' by comedy collective Ground Floor Comedy.

Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) will host its landmark 150th Anniversary Finale Gala on Monday, June 5th honoring visionaries that have made significant contributions to uplift Brooklyn residents with actress, chef and activist Debi Mazar as the emcee.  The theme is For the Love of Community and will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Brooklyn's stunning newly opened 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, located at 60 Furman Street.
BRIC Announces Artists Selected for Summer Residency Program

BRIC, the leading provider of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, announces the eight recipients of the annual BRICworkspace visual artistresidency program for the summer of 2017. BRIC was able to double the number of artists in residence this summer, from four to eight, due to a new donation of space at 505 State Street in Downtown Brooklyn, courtesy of Alloy Development. The summer 2017 awardees will be an all-female roster, including Nicole Awai Esperanza Cortes, Lucia Cuba, Phoebe Grip, Katya Grokhovsky, Katherine Toukhy, Jamie Warren and Monika Weiss. The residency program is now in its fourth year and is open to artists who live, work, or were born in Brooklyn.

The Bushwick Starr is thrilled to present the world premiere of The Art of Luv (Part 5): Swipe Right / ROKE Cupid, created and performed by Royal Osiris Karaoke Ensemble ('ROKE').   The Art of Luv (Part 5): Swipe Right / ROKE Cupid is a cycle of sacred love songs for the era of Internet Romance, a meditation on selfhood and intimacy in a mediated society. Three officiants perform an elaborate courtship ritual inside a kaleidoscopic video tent. The ritual is accompanied by live music and text taken from online dating profiles, internet scams, how-to dating guides, and the works of ecstatic poets. In Swipe Right / ROKE Cupid, ROKE attempts to imbue our modern search for love with a forgotten spiritual resonance.

The Brick Theater presents the world premiere of PLUTO (no longer a play), the latest from New York-based collective Superhero Clubhouse and the final installment of their Planet Plays series. PLUTO tackles the subject of mass extinction as three humans attempt to give a presentation about the remains of a play that no longer exists. The fragments seem to suggest the story of a unicorn, a hunter, and a wizard, all struggling to adapt to a rapidly changing world. Facing similar dilemmas, the three humans reenact their findings, searching for hope among the bones.
