Set in New York City, the play focuses on the curiosities of human relationships and explores the various dynamics within the vibrant and ever-evolving SoHo art scene. EYES SHUT. DOOR OPEN fits perfectly within the repertoire of Wax Wings Productions as it not only excites and provokes, but calls on the audience to evaluate Human Nature from a deeper, more meaningful perspective. The play will be on stage at The Inner Sanctum Gallery, an artist and creative social center in Roxbury, and will run for two weeks only: August 6-8 and August 13-15, 2015.

NNPN Announces Over $125K in Grants for 2015-16

The National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announced its 2015-16 grant recipients, including the Smith Prize for Political Theatre, the 2015 Annual Commission, two Playwright Residencies, five Producer Residencies, and two Collaboration Fund awards that will support partnership between eight of its members on two productions. In all, NNPN committed over $125,000 to fourteen Core Member Theaters and nine Affiliated Artists.

The Boston Gay Men's Chorus annual Pride concert on Sunday at Symphony Hall featured Special Guest Laura Benanti, the Tony Award-winning singer/actress, also known to television audiences for her roles on "Nashville" and "The Good Wife." In a program with selections ranging from musical theater greats like Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, and Stephen Sondheim, to pop artist Madonna and a newly commissioned piece, the BGMC and Benanti seemed to inspire each other to perform at the highest level of their combined vocal abilities, spiced up with some flashy dancing boys and refreshing comedy stylings by the guest artist.
