What theater is this taking?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Assuming a spring opening, the Golden makes the most sense. But maybe the Jones or Longacre?

Other available theatres are CITS and the Shubert. Likely the Broadway and maybe the Hudson if Merrily doesn't extend. The Shubert and Broadway would be too big for this show.

Lempicka to the Longacre.

It has the Longacre.

Not one of the most desirable houses, but still a great theatre.

Best of luck.

I think most producers would lucky to get the Longacre over the Lyceum or Belasco. It has a prime location and has had a handful of shows that ran a year+. The one drawback is that it has a balcony, instead of just a mezz, which usually means a slightly lower gross potential than someplace like the Schoenfeld, Barrymore, etc.

Longacre is still a better theater than the Lyceum, Belasco or Circle in the Square.

Isn’t Enemy of the People going into CITS?

I find the real estate of theatre so interesting.

It's fascinating to see what houses owners make available to competing shows.

That 3rd balcony is a tough sell for most shows that are not Hamilton or Merrily....

“ Longacre is still a better theater than the Lyceum, Belasco…”

Belasco is a very in demand playhouse, producers would surely choose it over the Longacre.

Until Leopoldstadt, the Longacre hadn't had a hit in ages - I was involved with a musical that was given that theatre, and the producers were pretty disappointed about it as the theatre was almost seen as a curse, and that their pink slip was signed before they had even started rehearsal.

(The show did flop, but it wasn't the theater's fault.)

One interesting tidbit:

This show has now had a different costume designer for each iteration.

- Montana Levi Blanco designed the Williamstown production (and tried to cause some controversy in the aftermath)
- Anita Yavich designed the La Jolla production
- Paloma Young will design the Broadway production

Paloma makes total sense as the choice for this. Her designs for Great Comet were incredible. Cathy Zuber would have also been a great choice.

Yeah, all 3 of those people are great designers and probably brought something different & interesting to each iteration. Would love to see an article doing a side-by-side of costumes from the 3 productions after this is open.

Your comment makes me realize we haven't had a new Zuber show post-pandemic (Doubtfire being the closest thing to "new) –– which is a little surprising considering how prolific her output was for the previous decade+. Hope she is ok & enjoying life and that this is just the nature of the biz!

I am so excited to see this on Broadway! I've already got my tickets for that first Saturday evening preview.

I have been waiting for this announcement since the La Jolla production closed. Fingers crossed that much of that cast will join the Broadway production with Eden. I thought George Abud and Jacquelyn Ritz in particular were so good.

I could not be more excited about this. We are going to have a brilliant new season of new original musicals!

As exciting as this announcement is, the sad truth is that most will not succeed.  Many excellent shows and performances will be lost amongst the crowd.

With a better second act this could be something really special, so I hear, but who’s the audience for this?

And will the only new musical this season to turn a profit be Back to the Future?

Oh look, a bibu!

The crowding honestly feels a detrimental to all of them. None of the new ones coming in have enough heat behind them already, except maybe the Notebook with its greater name recognition, but we've seen that that iften can turn out to be nothing.

Too much product and not enough of an audience to subsidize it.  May/June/July is going to be a bloodbath on Broadway!
