Bad Theater Behavior Aug 17

Today at a "Make Believe" matinee (at which I was the youngest audience member by at least a decade), the presumably sweet elderly woman next to me spent the first 30 mins of the show trying to figure out how to work the hearing assist device she rented (I have no idea how they work either) aka high-pitched feedback, squealing, and buzzing, paired with full-voice conversation with her friend about not knowing how to work it until she finally gave up and then fell asleep. The falling asleep resul
I had no idea! I was stuck here on vacation when Sandy happened and when the buses were back up and running, it's the one thing my friend and I went out and did. It was really funny; I now consider myself lucky to have seen it!
Well, at least trees are a renewable resource and the Playbills can be recycled. Not that that's a perfect situation, but it's better than other consumables used by the industry.
There's been some talk in recent months about Playbills going 100% digital if I recall.
Maybe reach out to 1) Playbill and inquire about whether or not they use recycled materials for their printing (unless someone already knows?) and 2) the Broadway Green Alliance?

My friends and I see Ryann Redmond EVERYWHERE. It's basically a running joke between us at this point. Doesn't matter where we are or how random it is - she will be there.
My most exciting unexpected moment thus far has been ste
I'm curious how you know of her but don't know what she does!
She is indeed a publicist for many actors.
She's also one of Laura Benanti's best friends; I believe that's how she got started in the business? I remember her actively campaigning on social media to get Benanti on the TV show Nashville because they both loved it so much and...it worked? I was just learning who she was, then, though, so maybe she was already a publicist then.

This thread has been a ride. I can't stop being bewildered that the writer of a play aka the person who came up with the plot, setting, dialogue, and created characters, and the director who brings that vision to life, have nothing to do with the content of the play.
Wow.
What universe is this?
Mel Brooks at the Lunt! (Rush Tix?) Jun 16

No rush tickets as far as I know; these Lunt shows aren't run by a theatrical team running a Broadway show and each one is treated differently.
For the record, Yanni was on TDF but it's unlikely you'll find discount Mel Brooks tickets.
This weekend I was channel surfing and was confused/surprised that Phillipa Soo was on my TV.
And then she turned around and started talking to Adam Chanler-Berat, who was also on whatever that show is.
Not that those are in-person experiences of course.
(I don't follow either of them on social media so the news of their casting on a TV series hadn't made it to me.)

You are correct!

It is a trophy! Okay...Tony Award (now it sounds like something froze the Westminster Kennel Club). What would you callit? And, do you like the little engraved plaque on the front?
"
It's called a statue.
What plaque/quote are you referring to? Genuinely curious; Google didn't help me

I've been here longer, so I overrule you. Stop being a white male oppressor apologist.

I basically check daily and there's a Lehman Trilogy scheduled for September but nothing for these two yet. Very unlike them."
They replied to someone on twitter stating that their rights on All About Eve didn't allow screenings in the NYC area.
All I kept thinking the entire time was, "Why isn't this a play instead?"
I much prefer musicals to plays but in this instance every time there was a song I internally groaned because I wanted them to get back to the dialogue and jokes that were making me laugh and it made for a long evening for me.
Oh, also, unrelated to the quality of the show! I showed up at 7:40 to pick up my will call tickets and the box office line was literally the ENTIRE length of
