Makes sense. It was such a hot ticket at BAM. I had sort of assumed they couldn’t get their two schedules to align for Bway.

You did, though my nerdy English major self can't help but mention that an apostrophe should be added to "Brustein's"...but otherwise, you did!

Thank you for the good news, this play and production deserve to be seen.

What source do you hav for this? I’m very surprised! Both actors are extremely busy! Also what theatre? I wonder if they will try to open this before the 27 for Tony eligibility…maybe at the Jones theatre

Dude, chill out. It's April 3, so they're obviously not opening the show before April 27.

I would be pretty shocked to see this open this season. I would assume it'll wait a few months, as is pretty typical for shows that transfer (although you're right that the actors are super busy and that could change things)

Jones could still be a good theatre though. It got renovated, then had a massive flop, then a cancelled production, and now sits empty. I'd imagine the Shubert org wants to fill it and wants it to finally have a hit.

If they have their ducks in a row, this would be a good week to announce since RB’s in the midst of a press tour ahead of the final season of MAISEL.

That surprises me for a couple reasons, tbh! Getting that cast together for months at a time seems like it'd be tough, and they've already spent the last several months with the show. And I know the celebrity angle is a draw for some (like myself), but I can't imagine this catching much of a tourist audience, it's a long play that doesn't lend itself well to a good one sentence summary. And BAM is pretty big; I had no trouble getting good seats well after the run there had started, though they were pretty expensive. But I saw the show mainly because of the talent, and was pretty underwhelmed, so maybe that's influencing my reasoning.

Lol there's more accurate information in the post you refer to than in your snarky response. Just so you know.

The cast is, exclusively, the sales angle. The marketing campaign could be OSCAR ISAAC / RACHEL BROSNAHAN ON BROADWAY with the font at 100% and the title of the play at 3% and it would sell equally well. There's no reason to think this wouldn't sell on Broadway for 10-15 weeks, even if the reviews are similarly mixed.

BAM was sold out well in advance with the exception of some top premiums and some holds that were released X days before the performance. Which is a great position to be in for any show.

This didn't age well, maybe. I never doubted that it was coming, just that the timeline was bonkers. Could be the quickest turnaround in Broadway history from announcement to opening, no?

Can't help but wonder if the Three Sisters cancellation was a factor here.

I'm still a little skeptical that this will open prior to the Tony cutoff, but I'm fully prepared to proven wrong very shortly haha!

If that's the case, I'll be very curious to see what the actual dates are. I guess we have to assume that they'll forgo a traditional rehearsal+preview schedule? Which would make sense considering they JUST closed at BAM.

Oscar was out of THREE SISTERS long before this started rehearsals at BAM.

I have to assume this would indeed be the quickest turnaround for a transfer in modern history. LADY DAY gave about one month notice, and Jonas Brothers did it in about 20 days, but that was a special & unusual situation. I assume they are having very few studio rehearsals (if any), just tech and re-spacing in the new venue ahead of previews.

I wouldn't count JB because that's quite literally a 5 day concert. Twitter pointed out that EVERYDAY RAPTURE replacing LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART with an 18 day turnaround might be the fastest.

Not sure who they think audience is for this. Most people that wanted to see cast, saw it at BAM. Like someone said it’s not tourist friendly show. Specially that never ending second act won’t have good word of mouth to sustain it.

I haven't seen it, but is the staging all that complicated? I'd imagine they could easily turn this around in 20 days. A couple spacing rehearsals, walk through of the space, refocus the lights, etc.

The set was pretty elaborate but the staging seemed simple enough.

this was literally one of the hottest theatre tickets of the winter. tickets were expensive and many people who wanted to were not able to see this. the aim is not tourists.

As for the staging, most of the action takes place on a unit set built on the stage. If they can transfer the set as is (which I imagine they will be), it will be a pretty easy move. It also closed only 10 days ago so it’s very fresh.

I am so much more interested in this announcement than the unsealing of Trump's indictment tomorrow.
