I'm not thinking we should be expecting anything in Broadhurst, Brooks Atkinson, or the Sondheim. While those show's grosses aren't stellar, they aren't shutting down quite yet. And I don't think we can preemptively close The Prom yet. I'm expecting Girl From The North Country in the Kerr, Hillary and Clinton at Circle in the Square, and who knows what'll go into the Hudson or the Cort. Wit
I'm reading these reviews and trying to figure out what is so special about this play or what makes it good. Cause right now it seems like it's just gonna be another family drama with a super white and male cast and creative team. And we've seen so many of those. And it's almost 3 and a half hours long.
I completely agree. It seems to me that over the past few year lyricists have gotten sort of lazy. I listen to cast recordings now and roll my eyes at so many of the lyrics now (Mean Girls, Spongebob, new songs in Frozen). It seems like the music is fine, but lyrics are really lacking. I think Joe Iconis has super witty lyrics which makes me excited for Be More Chill's Broadway run.
Any possibility this goes into the Kerr instead of Girl From The North Country? There's been talk of Girl going to the Kerr for a while but no announcement.
I went last week to the first preview and thought it was absolutely stellar. I knew very little about the show except for a few songs and was really shocked by how much I liked the show itself. It's a lovely little musical about New York and the people who inhabit it and the music is absolutely gorgeous. The production was also quite moving. The cast does really great work all around, but major props to Whitney Bashor (Bridges of Madison County) who really
"Yeah, Jessie Mueller packed them in at Carousel."
Well in a good production of a good show with a good director that already has a good deal of buzz and is less controversial, I think she would be a good choice. It would also probably be in a smaller theatre for a limited run. Certainly more of a draw than Rosalie Craig would be in the US.
I'm surprised nobody said this, but I think Jessie Mueller would be a fantastic Bobbie and would easily score her another Tony nod and I think would be enough of a draw.
