CATS Film Adaptation Thread Dec 20

I went to the theatre this afternoon expecting a Rocky Horror Style Romp and got a bunch of people who took this movie way too seriously. It was not fun.
Mystery of Edwin Drood - Voting Logistics Dec 16

It’s been a while since I’ve been in it but I believe the Datchery still stays in for the lover. And I know Jasper stayed in cause I remember memorizing several endings for the lovers. I don’t think Jasper is a popular choice for lover tho because the audience has seen so much of him.

I like Jordan but he feels too old and too cool for the role. Or is that just me?
The Inheritance or Slave Play? Nov 24

Slave Play. I got infinitely more out of the 2 hours and $39 spent than I did from 7 hours and $100 for The Inheritance.
Grammy Award Musical Theater Album Nov 21

I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve made it through the full Moulin Rouge cast recording. This is Hadestown’s to lose and would be a nice way for the Grammys to honor Anaïs Mitchell’s largely understated career in the music industry. The album is exquisite in every way.

I don’t think this is nearly as bad as everyone here is saying but we all know how catty these threads get. Just know it’s not gonna be the best thing you’ve ever seen but there’s a lot of good there too.
Darren Criss Headed back to Broadway!? Oct 23

With Mean Girls numbers dropping, I think it might be about time for a stunt cast. I think he could be a fun Damien.
Saw this last night and thought it was not great. The instrumental music and choreography were both fantastic and I liked the simplicity of the physical production. However, I thought the book and direction felt both very amateurish and I thought it felt very miscast. I think I'm in the minority here but I didn't enjoy Dinklage's performance except for the last scene. I thought the ensemble did a great job though and I was thoroughly impressed with the move

I also saw Anaïs Mitchell a few days ago and echo those sentiments. What a beautiful, unique voice.
The Inheritance - Previews Oct 13

I saw Part 1 on Monday and Part 2 tonight. I have mixed feelings on this one. It’s definitely not bad, but this is not “the next great play” like the marketing is claiming it is. I think the direction and the performances are stellar for the most part. Daldry really does great work and I enjoyed the simple set. I think Hickey, Hilton, and Soller all give incredible performances and are reason enough to see at least one part of this show.
The show on the other hand was underwhelming. It

I think it’s a commercial venture at LCT, I don’t think it’s an LCT show. I
