Maybe it’s just not funny.

And I’m not sure being aged 32 puts me in the “Old Farts” category , but sure, go off.
"

Pretty sure they wouldn't be doing as well as they have with runs both here and in the U.K as long as they have if it wasn't funny. So pretty sure that can't be it. Must be something else. But then you seem completely "baffled" by the concept that humor is subjective and that something can be funny to some people and not to others. Interesting world view.
"

You hit it on the mark.  I saw TPTWR twice and absolutely hated it (second time was a regional subscription and I figured that maybe I was in a bad mood the first time).

On the other hand, I have seen Noises Off 4 times (Routledge, London, Lupone and regional) and I loved it every time.  Go figure.

My favorite theatrical comedies ever are probably Barefoot in the Park (centuries ago) and Norman Conquests, both of which have (for comedies) well defined characters that you care about.  I guess that is what I need.

Watched the abridged Peter Pan Goes Wrong they shot for television. Lots of cartoonish actors crashing into things. I was most impressed by the breakaway sets. I'm curious what the full-length play adds to the matter.

It reminded me of how well constructed Noises Off is. You meet the characters, learn the stakes, and see them genuinely try to get through the play. When something goes wrong you understand how they each try to problem solve their way through it. There's none of that in the Peter Pan pro-shot.

Been meaning to post this, saw the second preview on Saturday. I thought act 1 was very good but not going to lie the momentum kinda died once intermission started back up. I love physical comedy and TPTGW but something was missing for the first 15 minutes of Act 2, maybe it was the song that was sung? Could also be the amount of audience participation that was egged on by Hook. The audience wouldn’t stop booing and he kinda lost all control and had to scream his next line. There was way more kids in attendance than I expected.

The show is definitely still working out things (2nd preview, duh) as production was spread out through the mezz and occasionally finding their way to an audio booth in a box, to adjust things as the acts progressed.

Overall enjoyed it, wish act two brought the pace of act one but minor complaint. Also couldn’t complain as it was a TDF ticket, seat was front mezz!

Did they keep the lullaby, bunk beds, malfunctioning revolve, and Teletubbies bits from the proshot?

Per TheaterMania, this production will have a 1-month run at the Ahmanson in LA following the Broadway engagement, from August 6-September 10.

They kept the first 3 you mentioned, not the last

Guessing it won't extend on Broadway then.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The Broadway run could be extended if they recast it.

Looking forward. Noises Off, PTGW, all are welcome diversions these days.

I'd doubt highly that that's going to happen, I feel like they are treating this like a sit down tour and will move the set to LA.  It would have to be a super smash hit for them to build a second set to keep it running in NYC

TDF tickets today were row H side orchestra on the center aisle, fantastic seats!

This production was a lot of fun, but I do find myself having enjoyed Play That Goes Wrong More.  This one definitely has a bit more backstage drama and larger/more extensive set pieces, as well as more audience interaction.  It was fun to see the same characters appearing again (sometimes with the same actors!) and I love how much they commit to writing a fake program within the Playbill as well.

I think TPTGW defined their actor characters a bit more clearly early on without being too on the nose about it, and I appreciated their unit set more just because of how many surprises it contained.  The show also felt like it had more momentum than Peter Pan, as the mistakes they made earlier would pile up and generate larger mistakes down the line, which I didn't see as much for Peter Pan.

Still, it was a fun time to spend the evening and the 2 hours flew by.  The crowd felt a little rowdy (I wondered if they had plants), but not so much that it ruined any enjoyment of the show, and in some cases actually enhanced it.

Just announced that Neil Patrick Harris will be joining the show as a special guest star April 11-30. Apparently other special guest stars may join the run at random times. I think Neil could actually fit this type of production very well, I wonder what the role actually involves.

Sad for the actor who usually plays the role to miss opening night and possible reviews for their performance, but I’m guessing they received a decent payout for being demoted due to this stunt casting.

Why do I have a feeling that Michael Urie will pop up as one of the guest stars?

It's possible that this actor may have had his own reasons for temporarily leaving the show. One never knows.

That would be a billion times better than this casting news.

I wonder how many others they shopped this around to before they landed on NPH. Five or six at least.

Jonathan Sayer's wife just had a baby and he probably needs to be with her a few more weeks before he joins the run.

NPH isn't stepping into Sayer's role, though. Unless it was announced separately that his start date was also delayed?
