I feel like we will eventually live through a time when television / streaming series become the more common source material for Broadway shows, rather than movies and books.

It might be coming sooner than we think.

Hell, it's already been reported that a Game of Thrones stage production is in the works. Imagine if that and Stranger Things make Broadway during the same season...

Makes me verrrrry cautious that no playwright has been announced, just a producer and a director. Which makes me think this is in the very early idea stages and we shouldn't hold our breath. Or are the Duffers writing it?

Totally, 100% unnecessary. Don’t ruin a great tv show by turning it into a stage production! Also how could you even place this in Hawkins and the Upside Down without effects? Like…come on. Not needed.

I’m sure it’ll be Hack Thorne – sorry, Jack Thorne.

I'd be much more interested in a "Sleep No More" type experience for this.

There actually was one. Do you know the company Secret Cinema in London? They do huge immersive shows based around a film (or in this case, a TV show). They did Stranger Things in 2020, and I got to see the final performance, which happened to be right before the pandemic. It was really cool – based on Season 3, so there was like a carnival, in addition to an 80s “mall,” and there were secret rooms that resembled the Russian lab, Murray’s house, Hopper’s cabin in the woods, etc. And you could follow around the characters as they moved through the plot beats of Season 3, and there were some other added story threads as well.

They did a drive-thru immersive experience here in LA.

They probably should have done this earlier since they're headed into their last season. An immersive experience will be really popular in my opinion.

Obviously hesitant, but I do think there are some rich stories to tell in this universe. After seeing “The Ocean at the End of the Lane” in London, I’m more open to these types of stories on stage. I think this has the ability to be stunning

It really saddens me that every successful property has to be run into the ground now. Nothing is sacred or special. It’s all about the almighty dollar. How many spin offs and unnecessary plastic objects can we get people to buy. Producers aren’t happy until they worn all the nubs off and no one is the least bit interested.

I love Stranger Things but enough already.

An announcement of some sort is coming tomorrow.

"Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.

Brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team, who take theatrical storytelling and stagecraft to a whole new dimension, this gripping new adventure will take you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story – and may hold the key to the end."

London, late 2023 (expected to be at the Phoenix theatre).

Deadline confirms it will be the Phoenix. The play is titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

Honestly I’m not super into stranger things, but I’m always down for a horror play!

“2:22”, “Grey House” and this - exciting that horror is finally being given a real chance to come back to the stage.

Wow, I was really excited by this until I read Jack Thorne’s name.

I’m not surprised - this sort of project is precisely his niche in the industry. It’s just a shame that he’s bad at his niche.
