At least 90% of what troy originally announced in the first post is correct (and I only say 90% because 10% I haven't heard of yet).

I am often wrong apparently. But it looks like The Piano Lesson is going in to the St. James.

Don't sell yourself short... you're doing phenomenal guesswork this season in terms of Theatre District real estate. I trust you completely.

I don't think an intimate play like that is going to go into a giant barn of a theater. The Piano Lesson isn't quite on pare with August: Osage County, right? In terms of scope? I've seen it a few times and it's a pretty small, simple show.

It was announced today, so yes, it is.

Oh dang, ha. My bad. Missed that. Dang. Totally wrong space for this. Guess they're banking on the names to pack them in.

I know some of you have amazing intel! Does anyone have updates on Broadway theater real estate for the 2022-2023 season? Of course, I understand that nothing is definite until the contracts are signed (and even then, sometimes there can be a real estate shuffle).

Based on press releases we know:

American Airlines: 1776

Booth: Kimberly Akimbo

Broadhurst: A Beautiful Noise

Circle in the Square: KPOP

Friedman: Cost of Living

Hayes: Kite Runner, then Between Riverside and Crazy

Shubert: Some Like it Hot

St. James: Piano Lesson

Vivian Beaumont: Camelot

Theaters that are dark or could be vacant soon:

Barrymore:

Belasco: (is Mockingbird returning or another show?)

Broadway:

Golden:

Hudson:

Imperial:

James Earl Jones: under renovation, reopening?

Longacre:

Palace: under renovations

Sondheim:

Studio 54:

Well, most of troynow's information in the first post of this thread has either proven to be accurate, or is still TBD. Although the Hudson situation was unclear - did troynow mean that Salesman would go to the Hudson in Spring 2022, and that Merrily would play there in fall 2022? If so, that clearly didn't pan out on either front (since Merrily seems to be scheduled at NYTW for Fall 2022). But maybe troynow meant Salesman in Spring 2023, and Merrily in Fall 2023.

Anyway, all of that is to say that troynow's post has been very accurate so far.

Could we actually be getting Broadway productions of Topdog/Underdog and Ain't No Mo' going into the Golden and the Belasco, respectively? If so, I'll be overjoyed. But it still strikes me as a bit of a longshot, especially for Ain't No Mo'.

Aside from those - if troynow is correct, we have:

Cort/Jones - OHIO STATE MURDERS

Sondheim - SHUCKED

Imperial - CINDERELLA

St. James - NEW YORK, NEW YORK

I hope Sing Street manages to make it back into a Broadway theatre.

Is Into the Woods still moving into the St. James for 8 weeks in the summer (2022)?

Almost Famous?  At one point, thought that was headed for the Broadhurst. Now, we know that’s not true…

I heard it's not happening from my agent friend due to scheduling conflicts primarily with Sara and it would not transfer without her. Also, Heather and Denee are filming their series this summer.

Almost Famous is still coming over next season.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The equity casting call for salesman has a limited run set for Fall 2022 (Oct 9 - Feb 5) and the NYTW Merrily runs from Dec 12 - Jan 21 so I assume if Merrily were to transfer to the Hudson, it would open in Spring 2023

I thought Cabaret to the Hudson. Maybe Merrily to reopen the James Earl Jones? Its going to be a STACKED next season.

Just wanted to throw a little more evidence behind troynow and his info. My Broadway Briefing email this morning listed Ain't No Mo' under "Shows in Development" with Lee Daniels and Sonia Friedman listed as producers, so I except announcement is imminent.

I wouldn't read anything into that.  Many of those "Shows in Development" in the BB listings have been listed there for years.

That could very well be, but correct me if I’m wrong - I believe the BB listing is the first piece of “evidence” (outside of Troynow’s post) that this proposed transfer is EVEN in the works in the first place. It still might not pan out, but it seems confirm that Lee Daniel IS in fact trying to bring it to Broadway.

There's speculation that Come From Away may extend. Rumors are saying one or two weeks, others are saying they will extend until the end of the year. Is anything lined up for the Schoenfeld this Fall?

Whenever I read this thread, I think of the "Tos-ability Board" from the " 'title of show' show" webseries. It was a nice graphic we need back.
