I'm so happy for her! Plus, like Halle Bailey in the upcoming The Little Mermaid, the singing is guaranteed to be excellent. I'm so happy that we're not getting a repeat of Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast.

She's SNOW WHITE, for f*ck's sake. I sometimes find the excessive Rachel Zegler adoration on here annoying, but, in this case, it's merited. This is huge for her, and, along with her role in Shazam! 2, it's hard to deny that she's doing something right.

Great news! I thought this project was dead, partly because (if I recall correctly) it was announced in a cluster of announcements, where Disney was naming all its films as having live action adaptations, and it was "Sure, Jan" moment.

It also doesn't say if they are keeping any of the original Snow White songs, along with Pasek and Paul, or if it is 100% a new score. This will be the first live action musical adaptation where all the creators are dead. At least with the ones that have come out that have been musicals, the creators are collaborating on them again.

Happy for Rachel Zegler! Excited that this film is still happening. It was first announced in 2016! So far, Cinderella has been the best Disney live-action remake in my opinion and Lily James has been the best embodiment of a Disney fairy tale character come to life. I have really high hopes for both Halle Bailey and Rachel.

Curious if anyone here could answer this for the Disney version of the story, because I only know the answer as far as the Brothers Grimm origin and can’t remember how/if it was changed:

In the Disney version, how does Snow White get her name? /Does her name have the same origin that was in the Brothers Grimm story?

Well colourism is a thing in some ethnic minority communities.

you could head canon that this “ Snow White” has lighter skin than the evil stepmother so she gave her that nickname as part of her jealousy.

The project being successful is less her concern. As a working actress, as long as she is booking work in big buzz projects, it is definitely a winning streak. Honestly, as long as she is booking gigs that continue to pay her bills, she is still on a winning streak.

I hope she isn't forced to act or sing like the animated version of the character from 1937. The animation is beautiful,especially for its time,but Snow White's voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

The mirror describes her as "lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow", and the audience is supposed to get that's how she got her name.
