But you know what? By that time the OBC cast had made the producers rich men, and they had devoted a big chunk of their lives to the show. And they didn't run to Mr. Riedel blabbing all the
I agree that the use of toys was underwhelming for the first snowman, but understand if her powers weren't as strong yet.
However, the Disney easter egg made it worth it:
Seriously, if you're a big Disney fan - don't read this spoiler until you've seen the show. You'll appreciate the reveal once you see them put together Olaf in the bedroom.
All of these hypothetical scenario threads have gotten me thinking about how timing is so crucial of a show's life. Since The Band's Visit was the tony committee's saving grace of the season, what do you all think would have happened if TBV did not open this season, and there were only the other 5 new musicals for the season: Mean Girls, Frozen, Spongebob, Summer, and Margaritaville? It could have easily happened, the whole creative track of the show could have been shifted one ye
Solipsist234 said: "Umm, what world are you living in where SpongeBob has a big following and the shows got collectively better reviews this season? Mean Girls got ravaged by the critics, dude. Same with Frozen! Also Summer and Margaritaville."
Ok, that is true critics wise. They made it clear this year that they only loved 1 new show. That's still 1 more than they loved in 2010. I guess my point is, 2018 had a clear best musical frontrunner and critics favorite
This is a question of just the new musicals of each season, but I was thinking back on how much flack the musical of this past season got and compared it to the last worst best musical (in my opinion), Memphis.
Thinking back to 2010, there was no musical that got the acclaim that The Band's Visit got this year.
Numbers wise, both seasons had the same amount of new musicals open, 6. In 2010 it was Memphis, American Idiot, Fela!, Million Dollar Quartet, Addams Family and Come
Does anyone know if CBS or anyone will be streaming the creative arts / pre-primetime awards that they give out starting at 7pm online anywhere? I remember they used to show this on possibly tonyawards.com and wanted to check if we can find it anywhere this year.
I know they change from year to year for some awards which ones will be at that ceremony and which are saved for prime time (like book and score and director for some reason). Hopefully there's a way we can see them all so
Oak2 is right here and GeorgeandDot is absolutely wrong. Oak2 explained concisely that the fans voting for the awards poll can only vote based off of what they know. It's an AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD, of course it's going to be a popularity contest - no need to overreact and troll those who voted doing exactly what the poll was intended to do. People are going to groan about the outcomes of the actual Tony Awards anyway, why should these awards be different than any other. For Oak2 t
I would say that Bullets Over Broadway's use of tap from Susan Stroman would fit into the "use of tap organically - not a gimmick or meta moment of musical theatre" in Cheech's song, T'aint Nobody's Business If I Do as well.
The tap is used to move the story of the scene along and showcase the characterization of Cheech and the other gangsters. They're showing their hostility and disregard for the law through the lyrics of the song
I completely agree that the show was written by people that have never done high school theatre, or theatre at all, before. The show was ridiculous in its portrayal of how high schools do musicals from the beginning and it kept being outrageous through last week's episode.
Did anyone see last week's episode? If you're a hate-watcher of the show like me, there was a little gratifying payoff when Ted Mosby finally understands that this show is incredibly inappropriate t

There’s also very littledenying that he’s giving the best performance of the four. However, do we think a yellow sea sponge is a character worthy of a lead actor Tony? The Tonys have shown previously that they are not afraid to give Tonys out to fun roles (Heck, they gave Christian Borle two of them). Howev
Given how a "fantasy league" is set up, I think it's too late to test it out with this season, but I had this idea while listening to co-workers talk about baseball fantasy drafts for over a year while I have these message boards up in my incognito browser.
Here's how I would set it up. Based on how other leagues work, a fantasy sports league is made at the beginning of every season when the players for the season are known for all teams before any games ar
I agree, I think this is the weakest season since 2009-2010 when Memphis won best musical. (One could argue that 2012-2013 was weak too since by the time of the Tonys only 2 new musicals were still open - but in my opinion Kinky Boots or Matilda individually were stronger than every show from 2010 put together).
Hopefully this hourglass gets turned over soon. This happens every certain amount of years. Look at all
So I've noticed a trend of musicals in previous years that have several acting nominees crafting their Tony performance to showcase all of their actors that are nominated, or at least doing their best to include them all.
Would anyone that has seen Mean Girls on Broadway say that the new opener to Act 2, "Stop" (or "Stop It" includes enough Regina or Gretchen in addition to Damian for t

Soooo Spongebob is the most nominated of the season."
True. However I was referring to Tony nominations, and I am also glad that Mean Girls at least gets to share the quote with Spongebob. Glad to see the nominators are not completely delirious.

I would honestly rank the 3 that I’ve seen as
1. Mean Girls
2. Frozen
3. Spongebob
I know that’s controversial on these boards too. I agree with a lot of the opinions on here that say frozen left a lot to be desi

I'm basing my theory off of the target audience that Spongebob is trying to get tickets from (especially people not in the know or on these boards) and what their perception will be of seeing advertisements for the whole month of May saying it is the most nominated show of the season.

I can proudly report that I have seen Spongebob and am basing my disappointment on my opinion after actually seeing the show - not writing it off as others have.
I am glad that others have enjoyed the show - I was personally disappointed with it.
I have only seen 3 musicals of this season - Mean Girls, frozen, and Spongebob - and
