When you said forgettable tv, then started to list examples, I seriously thought your example for Kristen Chenowith was going to be Pushing Daisies - which was actually forgettable (even though it won her an Emmy).
The fact that you didn’t remember Pushing Daisies literally proves that it was forgettable.

Does anyone here know if they are going to update the tempo of each of the 10 songs to slow them down so they will each fill an hour long episode? Seems creative, but how will they find time for the dialougue?

I’m not complaining about this announcement at all and am very excited to see such a risk taken on a property that is famously not a safe bet.
But imagine if they didn’t announce this at all now, filmed it the way the planned in the next 20 years, and in 2040 the movie just premiered out of nowhere with this incredible concept. If it was a huge surprise that they’ve been filming for 20 years and we have this now 20 year old footage of this cast. That surprise would be so compelling and
It is very important that this gets done and is posted online. This is critical.

On the Young Frankenstein cast recording, during the overture if you turn the volume all the way up during the staccato end section of the “Roll in the Hay” instrumental, you can hear someone turning their page in the sheet music. It’s glorious.

I mean, Diana DiGarmo was great on American Idol all those years ago and all, but a whole jukebox musical about her?
I didn’t know she had that big of a catalog.

These writers are also 2 of the 3 people that would host the improv show “Don’t quit your night job” right? With all the broadway guests around 2007-2010?
That gives me high hopes, those shows were always hilarious.
And one of them was in Peter and the starcatcher too right?
I guess I’m asking the one poster who said they know them if I’m remembering correctly.
DEBRA MONK - Anyone heard from her? Jul 30
2019, 07:21:28 AM
Yes, as a matter of fact - funny that you ask. I swear the following is a true story:
When I was in NYC the last weekend in April seeing Tootsie and Beetlejuice, my family and I saw the Sunday matinee of Gary. About 10 minutes before the show started I looked around me and noticed someone that looked a lot like Debra Monk. I said to my mom, “Debra Monk is sitting right behind us.” She said “no that’s not her.” But I was pretty certain and knew the show was 1 act with no intermission, so

I’m not so much worried about Rob McClure struggling to compare to Robin Williams. There’s already precedent of that not being an issue recently - James Monroe Iglehart has a Tony award.
He and Casey Nicholaw crafted a genie that can stand alone as a new stage presence from what was in the movie while respecting the original. And I’m sure the doubtfire writers, director, and Rob McClure can make something special for the stage too.
Very curious to see some high scores on this board. Buzzfeed gives you 5 minutes to type out all the best musical winners you can remember (I recommend using a desktop keyboard instead of your phone).
My score was 41/71. I was happy with it but at the end, they list all the ones you forgot, and I was ashamed that I forgot 4 of them.
Tootsie- worst musical of the year May 20

The OP is obviously a Hadestown producer trying to spread a bad narrative on the boards against the show that is its main competition this year at the Tony’s, in hopes to influence some voters if they’re even here. He or she even brought up the ridiculous claim that the cast looks like they’d rather be in Hadestown to make it seem like it’s the only show worth being in. How would you know what they’re thinking let alone something so specific?

Great point, and I agree. I could definitely see those 2 being swapped with tootsie winning best musical and the prom winning best book. Just as long as hadestown doesn’t win best book.

Ive seen 4 of the 5 nominees for best musical this year (The Prom, Tootsie, Beetlejuice, and Hadedtown) and the spread of the nominees got me thinking about how this years winners could end up like the results of years past. I enjoyed all 4 musicals and what stood out to me is how fruitful a season it was for musicals compared to earlier years that didnt have as many quality musicals to count. I know a lot of people here disagree and this is just my opinion, but I think this year has potential t

Ive been in NYC this weekend and will be here tomorrow morning while the tony nominees get announced. Does anyone here know of any public places that would be broadcasting the announcement that would be fun to go to in person?
Just a different experience than watching the broadcast online?
Also Ill have to leave for the airport around 10am. But any recommendations would be appreciated!

For those of you saying you only paid $33 for a good orchestra seat, were those rush seats or did you get them in advance some other way?
I’m looking to see this show next Friday night, but for a good deal based on what I’ve heard here. The best deal I could find is the playbill code which is like 30% off, still around $100 each through telecharge? Is there another deal I could find where I can still pick my seat in advance? Or is rush the best option?
